ACen '11

So I'm back from ACen, and I am sleepy. But here's what I did this weekend!

On Thursday, I spent that making the journey to the hotel. It wasn't bad as it was in previous years, since I was smart and packed very light. I went to Mitsuwa, got some delicious ramen and chilled out in the room for the rest of the evening.

Friday was the first day of the actual con. I spent all my dealer room money the first uh...10 minutes of being there? ACen's dealer room was amazing this year, and I wish I had saved up more. But I got a special edition Bioshock 2 game. It came with the game itself, an artbook, vinyl record, CD, and posters. All for under $40. My next find was the Revoltech Professor Layton figure which I searched about three cons for. And I got two Soul Eater figures - Death the Kid and Maka. I wanted Liz and Patti but sadly they were sold out. I also found adorable YGO figures and a SE artbook, but ran out of money before I could get either. Friday I hung out with college friends, and we went to see Anime Hell. Unfortunately it was pushed back so we missed the the MST3k hentai panel. It was disappointing, because they were riffing on a hentai called Gonad the Barbarian/Search for Uranus.

Speaking of panels, the panels were split up over four hotels. Which is weird, but the main problem was that the other hotel rooms for the panels were tiny, and the more popular panels were in the smaller hotel rooms. Which means if you didn't arrive an hour or two earlier for the panels in the other hotels you were SOL. Even regular fan panels filled up quickly. I didn't like that too much.

Saturday I hung out with my old cosplay group and was inspired to do one of those human Pokemon cosplays because they look pretty. I went to several photoshoots because as I mentioned above, the panels I wanted to go to filled up too quickly. I think I might pick up Homestuck again because I think I want to cosplay from it. It looked like a lot of fun.

Sunday was spent going to Mitsuwa and stocking up on goodies, and then spent the rest of the evening just watching television with friends and making World of Darkness jokes. Overall it was a fun con and I got to hang out with people I wanted to see, but the four hotels thing was really weird. But I did have fun.
