One of the talent of those of us of the Delia clan is insanely fast reading. Take THAT, incredibly long and not that well-written book!
This talent can be both a blessing & a curse. It is good when what you're reading isn't all that good, because you finish it faster. It's bad when you acutally wanted to savor the reading.
You'd think it would be helpful for school-type purposes, but it doesn't extend into textbook reading (or at least didn't for me; I'd have to consult more fam). I could always read that stuff fast, but it wouldn't sink in unless it was actually interesting (as stories usually are).
However, it did help my standardized test scores tremedously; I read the tests fast & even I could comprehend those stupid passages you had to read because they were short. That, and I learned the trick: read the questions FIRST, then scan the passage for the answers.
Anyway, at the moment I'm glad I'm a fast reader, because the book I'm reading isn't very good, and I don't want to spend too much time on it. But I told my sister I'd read it, and it was on my list of stuff to read someday anyway.
