Purple bling bolero

Jul 06, 2011 07:02

I recently bought The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller. It's chock-full of fantastic crochet patterns. There's a lovely little bolero jacket that I want to make with some Very Expensive yarn. I'm also going to make it much longer than the pattern calls for, and it won't technically be a bolero so much as a cardigan. I bought some Very Inexpensive yarn to make it with first, so I could master the unusual stitch and make sure the thing fits before tackling it with the Very Expensive stuff.

Here's the top section of the back, with two sets of the repeating pattern. I'm quite happy with how its shaping up so far, but since it isn't actually 'shaping' yet (that is, making sure it'll fit properly to my,er, shape), it's too soon to know if I'll actually pull this off. Also, you can't tell in these photos, but the Inexpensive Yarn is glittery, hence calling it 'bling'.

And a close-up of the stitches.

In other news, the manuscript submission is in the post to the agent who asked for a partial, so good thoughts New York-ward will be very much appreciated.
