Based on the last month or so, I'm guessing I finally shook off the funk although I picked up a nasty bug along the way. Got back from girls weekend at the lake only to be snot-filled, dizzy and achy for the next week to ten days. Perfect timing when I had a major soiree to cook for.
The party came off without a hitch though, thanks to my son, Kim Lawson, Rachel Wiley and Dain Michael Down. The weather was perfect and so many folks showed up early to help out since I was still light headed and woozy. No matter how sick I am apparently, it is not sick enough to prevent me from shaking my ass. Scott Woods will remain my favorite DJ for all eternity. He MADE all three of these events with the best music ever! I'm already looking ahead to next year for a repeat performance.
Dad seems to be more content of late and is super excited to be taking a road trip up to Cleveland next month to see all of the family for his birthday. Speaking of family, his older sister moved to TX last week without letting anyone know, his younger sister does not return phone calls or messages left on her apartment door and his older brother (the uncle I despise) likes to pop into town with no notice and is all kinds of hands on when he's around me. If not for him having two of his sons with him, I would have told his lecherous ass off. Or not, since we know I'm all about keeping the peace.
Jager, my new kitten, is a joy to behold every single day. He got snipped on the 17th and I think he's doubled in size since his surgery. He and Ziggy have taken to pinning me under the covers since the weather has turned. They keep me snug as a bug in a rug.
The Judge convinced me to forego swimming twice a week with her to give
fitCamp a try. Three days in and it's kicking my ass but is exactly what I needed. There is no way in the world you can participate in a 6am bootcamp, four days a week and remain disorganized or in a bad mood. My energy level was through the roof on day one even though my thighs were screaming. Today is day three which consisted of hiking up 6 flights of stairs to the top pf the parking garage and then doing an Ab Blaster workout for the next hour, with running, both backwards and forwards running mind you. It's insane!
Since early voting started this week, we are in countdown mode until the election. I've got yard signs if you want one!
I cancelled my trip to Austin for ACL next month because it was just way too much money to spend when I'm trying to fix up the house. However, I just found a round-trip ticket to Seattle for $250, so I'm thinking I may go see my little sister. I haven't been to Washington since 2005, so I am way overdue for a visit.
I told myself I was going to scale back on the catering business with the election and getting the house fixed up, but the orders keep rolling in, so I guess I'll stick with it for now.
I really want to love
Lonely Avenue. I pre-ordered it because I adore Ben Folds and Nick Hornby, so together they should be amazing, but the little bit I listened to last night did not impress. I'm hoping I was just tired and hungry and not in the best frame of mind to appreciate it.
Apart from all of that I am super duper excited that Halloween falls on a Sunday this year! You know what that means don't you? Friday, Saturday & Sunday costumes!
