So tomorrow evening around 7pm (1pm EST) I'm leaving on an overnight train to Dresden, to begin my spring break.
It's pretty cool sounding, so I'll mention what I'm doing here...just because I feel like it. :)
I'm spending a day and night in Dresden, with a friend of mine, and then we're heading to Berlin for another two days. He's meeting a friend there from the US, with whom he's traveling to Amsterdam to get stoned. Not my ideal, so instead I'm cutting off north. My first stop will be Stralsund, a beautiful little beach town on the coast of the Baltic sea. Then Up onto Rugen, an island that counts as the northernmost point of Germany (from there you can take a ferry to Trelleborg Sweden, if you really want to). I'll spend some time in Sassnitz and Hidensee, just exploring the natural parks on the island. That was my original plan. But now Gretel's filled my head with all sorts of ideas of other parks to see and things to do in that area (like walk across a very narrow sound to Poland! Or go to the museum of early attempted flight apparatus--early meaning wings) so there's a lot of flexibility. Germany's a pretty safe place to travel by yourself, even for a small girl like me, and especially in small towns like that I feel secure in altering plans and checking things out.
So that's where I'll be until the 21st, when I get back to Salzburg. I have four more days of spring break from there, which I'll probably use to either go to Rome (and the monster garden in Bomarzo), Budapest (my mom has friends there who want to see me) or Bavaria (especially Oberammergau, and Wintersdorf if it still exists. Wintersdorf is where the Grabenstetters came from).
If anyone needs get a hold of me, I will check online whenever I can find an internet cafe. But I can't promise anything! I've been collecting random extra postcard throughout my stay here, so if anyone wants one sent their way let me know and give me your address :) I can't promise it'll be sent in the next two weeks, but I will send one if nudged!
Bai everyone, enjoy spring breaks!!
