This will not be another "OMG SNOW" post because there are already plenty of those. Besides, the snow's OK with me. It's been kind of fun, actually.
It's the fact that it's going to be horrifically cold for the next entire week that gives me the creeps. I now have a horror of ice on the streets and sidewalks.
One decent severe injury, and I am gunshy forever. Also, the wind is howling like crazy out there. It does NOT sound fun.
I've got ice on the inside of my kitchen windows. That's a new one.
I woke up very early this morning (probably because I passed out at like 8 or something last night... note to self: BREAKFAST IS NOT ENOUGH TO GET YOU THROUGH THE WHOLE DAY) and have been wasting time and relaxing while waiting to call my work to see if it's been called off. I seriously doubt that it has, especially because it's not going to get any warmer, or safer, out there on the roads this week and they can't very well call off work for the whole week, can they? All the same, I really don't want to go in today. I would really love an actual day off. it feels like it's been ages, but really, it was only a couple of weeks ago. Remember Sick Vacation '08? Just because I was totally ill doesn't mean that I didn't actually really slack on that week's Monday. And Tuesday and Wednesday, too, if I recall correctly. Still, today I've got a mild hangover (breakfast is NOT enough) and I am just not looking forward to how cold it is out there. On the other hand, I've got long johns, I've got a wool coat and a wool hat and wool scarves and cashmere socks and sweaters and little chemical hand warmers, and I can totally deal with this. I just don't really WANT to. I'm tired and depressed (though I am very much looking forward to Heroes tonight. I still haven't had a chance to rewatch last week's episode, so I need to make sure I make time for it this evening before the new one). I want more sleep. I want to crawl into bed and not come out until it's above freezing outside. (According to the forecast, that'll be sometime next week. Yeah, I'm a wuss now. Oregon's mild climate has spoiled me.)
