Did big bad Barack scare you that much?
Aides to Mr. McCain said they had a team on the ground in Alaska now to look more thoroughly into Ms. Palin’s background. A Republican with ties to the campaign said the team assigned to vet Ms. Palin in Alaska had not arrived there until Thursday, a day before Mr. McCain stunned the political world with his vice-presidential choice.
Although the McCain campaign said that Mr. McCain had known about Bristol Palin’s pregnancy before he asked her mother to join him on the ticket and that he did not consider it disqualifying, top aides were vague on Monday about how and when he had learned of the pregnancy, and from whom.
I mean, really? Was that really the very, very best candidate they could choose? What kind of campaign takes a chance on someone with so very many possible moral liabilities? Either they were so desperate that they didn't check, so cynical that they really do believe that folks will vote entirely for hairstyle (which is why I was so angry at the first because, yeah, I'm cynical enough to believe that too) or else Sarah Palin is the best legislator of the last 100 years. Is it sexist of me to doubt that? (Or am I looking at her past political career and the decisions she's made so far?)
I'm really trying to be quiet about politics on here, but this genuinely blows my mind.
