I worked two hours at the Dark Horse table today and it was a blast. Kumoricon is a cos-players paradise; folks in costume outnumbered the folks dressed in a straight way. Sure, lots of them were screeching teenies, but mostly it was just a bunch of friendly, silly, enthusiastic folks (or at least the ones who came to our table). It's a blast; I think I want to keep working it in the future. I really miss conventions; one Stumptown a year isn't anything like enough.
Unfortunately my body picked this one day to get easily overwhelmed (or perhaps there's no coincidence - conventions often kick the legs out from under me), and before I even made it back home I was dead on my feet. What was supposed to be an hour's nap/lie down turned into three, and now that I'm awake I have a rotten headache and indigestion.
But by God, several hours late or no, I got started writing.
There's a party tonight that starts in... oh, fifteen minutes. I want to go, but I wonder if the fact that I had to duck out of the conscious world for three hours and still woke up with a headache means that I shouldn't go alllllll the way back to Lloyd Center to go get drunk with a bunch of otaku. But by God, I really want to.
No, no. Back to work. Am I professional or not?
