FTW! (and RIP!)

I just got my Xmas bonus, and by my poverty-distorted standards... it's fucking obscenely large. (Hint: it's not enough for me to drop everything and run to NYC for New Year's, like I want, but still... it's a shitload better than last year's.) Thank you, Dark Horse Comics, Inc ( Read more... )

r.i.p., greed, ftw, awesome

Two Cents, adjusted for inflation. lx December 12 2007, 22:39:33 UTC
Don't buy Leopard. Not yet, anyway. I've heard from too many people early horror stories. They pulled developer resources off it for a significant amount of time to put into the iPhone and it seems to show.

I'm probably not gonna go to Leopard til I can afford a whole new machine. I'm generally skeptical of upgrading the whole OS on a machine I've used for a significant amount of time, anyway, too many variables.

Word - that's what I was thinking myself.
And there's not going to be $$ for me to buy a whole new machine any time soon, so I'll just keep plugging away with what I got.

Also, regarding Ike: I read that while he was not actually done in by Tina, she and her leather-clad gang of post-apocalyptic, be-mohawked, homoerotic warriors did chase him to the end of the nuked-out railroad line before leaving him for dead in the desert.

You know what's come down in price a lot? HDTV's. And HD-DVD players. And Heroes Season 1 on HD-DVD. (OK, that last one may not have literally come down in price, although I think I may have seen it thrown in as a freebie with certain HD-DVD players.)

Go buy yourself something nice. You deserve it.

So i can now have FOUR COMPLETE COPIES IN FOUR DIFFERENT MEDIA FORMATS?

Holy crap, even I might not be that into it. But ohhhhhhhh being able to watch "Heroes: the journey of Peter Petrelli" is a really compelling argument. (Or for that matter, "Heroes: the journey of Hiro Nakamura" or "Heroes: the journey of Mohinder Suresh".)

Oh, I dunno. I'm hesitant to blow my whole bonus on one piece of hardware (and one piece of "software").

The bra and boots certainly would be a nice treat for yourself. That is awesome that you got a big bonus!

We should try to make a Dot's outing with a smallish group sometime soon!

I am down - next week sounds freakin great to me. (busy tonight, friday, saturday, sunday.) I wish I could go tonight, but tonight I'm going to get drunk and watch So NoTORIous, co-starring a very flashily dressed (when he is dressed) Zachary Quinto...

And sweetheart, you'll never stop being a dick about Nathan. It's your JOB. ^_^

1. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one tempted by the metallic jeans.

2. I am totally convinced this mid 30s hormonal rush is like one big cosmic joke.

3. I have NEVER had a job where I got a bonus, though I actually make enough money now to live. Wait until you know what the thing is. Whtever the thing you are getting is.

4. We need to get together, but I am not sure when that would be.

1. They are very cute. Trip to Old Navy this weekend. Will be at Lloyd anyway, seeing THE GOLDEN COMPASS again. They are cheap pants, because it's Old Navy - I can afford that just on my paycheck, and I don't have to touch my bonus.
2. It is. MWAAHAHAA!
3. It sure is nice, especially when it's handed to you personally by the president of the company. It means we did good this year. I like having the pride - i work here even without making a lot of money - but it's sure nice to get some money, too.
4. Soon? Maybe next month? I am already taking reservations for January. You and me and Chris Morris can get together and watch the Red Carpet Massacre special making-of DVD, because he's such a Durannie he had to buy the Special Edition of the album. Apparently it's fantastic...

Leopard is righteously shiny, but it's hard work on my G4 powerbook (to the point where I'm going to have to buy some more memory). If you've got one of the Intel macs, I think you'll be fine.

I have an intel mac and it's still clunkier than it used to be. But yeah, it's sure pretty and shiny. Upside - it came to me from a Mac person I know, and the upgrades and fixits should be coming free and soon.

I doubt it's going to work on my poor G3/600. It can barely run the internets as it is, and is probably on its last legs... too bad the bonus wasn't big enough for me to buy a new machine (or, like last time, a refurbished, 3-year-old machine. Three years ago.) But I refuse to go into debt for a computer that'll be obsolete long before I've finished paying for it.

I have a G4 tower; I don't know if it'll work on that, either. It's worth checking out.

Word. You don't need Leopard (or Leotard, as we call it at home).

Yeah, it might work on your tower :) Enjoy your spendy, whatever you do!
