Heroes 2x01 quick gloss

Oct 01, 2007 10:45

Since I missed the heroes_meta posting deadline, I won't go all out for this. But I do want to set my thoughts down, and also give me an excuse to post with my happy new user icon. Because honey, it's true.
What the hell happened?! )

A few thoughts from over here.

Where the hell did Ando get that HUGE-ass sword? Is it like there's a huge ass sword emporium a short cab ride away from anywhere in Manhattan?

Whatever you might say about the guy with the gun who finds Peter, that's a crap Irish accent he's trying to do. Really bad.

Totally agreed on West being a dipshit. What a wanker. I hope he dies horribly.

Props to the writers for dredging up a real Japanese term for borrowing: kensei really does mean "sword saint" and is typically and mostly applied to Miyamoto Musashi, who looked much more like Nathan Petrelli (with the beard) in real life than is probably wise.

Well, given that the actor playing Hiro translates all his own dialog, I would hope they'd get that right. :) He, is by the way, one of those real-life geniuses that you want to hate, but are way too cool to do so. I agree about the accent.

BTW, Jemiah, don't waste your time with Alias. Or at least turn the sound off. Seriously. Well, maybe the first season is good, but then it's a slow decent into garbage. I quit after the second season, and people who stuck it out told me that was a very good idea.

Oh, I don't really want to watch ALL of Alias - I know it begins to suck unbelievably after a while. But it's fun at first, isn't it?

Masi Oka actually could use some more Japanese classes - according to actual Japanese people who watch the show, he fucks up his translations right and left. That's OK, he's still my husband. (You should read the interview with him in Geek magazine - it may actually tip you over into the 'actually hating him' state, but I couldn't because he's just so fabulous. Most of it's about how much he jizzes over computational fluid dynamics, which I think is one of my favorite CGI aspects and one which I've avidly followed from the earliest days of CGI. I think he wrote some seriously hot code.)

I really got into it the first season and second season seemed like it was headed up but then . . .then . . .kerplunk! Somewhere it just got too messy and had too many counterplots to follow and I think even the writers got confused.
Although I can totally see you enjoying the episodes with David Anders/Sark and Lauren the evil bitch in the second season.

Bogeyman....is not Sylar. That was made pretty clear (I thought) at the end of last season....also thought I read somewhere that Sylar kind of does an about face this season as far as being a baddy.

The Killer.....the Invisible Man is back! He's survived large falls before. And it would explain getting the picture into Ando's newspaper.

Hiro screwing up time....Hiro is Kensei. It was him all along that made things right.

Just my guesses.

The cover of Entertainment Weekly and your guess about Hiro as Kensei need to get together.

Hiro the way he looks on the cover of Entertainment Weekly and *I* need to get together. What is it about a man in samurai armor? Woof!

Actually the boogeyman IS Sylar - the Big Nasty is worse than the boogeyman. When she was telling Mohinder that she didn't want "HIM" to find her, Mohinder asked her if she meant the Boogeyman, and she said "No... he's much worse." It doesn't matter to Molly whether or not Sylar becomes a good guy - she watched him slaughter her parents ( ... )
