A happy merry solstice to you all. Today it's cloudy and mild here. It's absolutely wonderful. Please let the whole summer be like this (ha, right).
OK, here's the deal - white iBook G3, Airport Extreme wireless card. When the card is installed, the computer won't power up. Any ideas? Google/Apple Docs are no help. I have never seen the innards of a computer when the card is properly installed, so I don't know if I did it right - it's seated in its slot, and the antenna seems to be properly and completely connected.
Serves me right for trying to work with outdated hardware. I'd love to trade up (oh can I please have a G5 laptop - OS 10.5 is right around the corner), but the ducats aren't there. I need a new book deal so I can get some money. *sigh*
No book deal until I can stop cranking out the Heroes fic. But I kinda can't turn it loose right now - I've got three more stories planned, and one of them is a doozy. Dammit, why don't I have any artistic discipline? Sure, I've written more than 100,000 words in seven months, but it's worthless except to a small cadre of extremely perverted/open-minded people. I'd love to write some more horror, but I'm far more interested in writing about sex right now. I don't think I could even do some name- and context-changing to get what I've written published as legit erotica. Curses, curses, curses. But I just love writing this stuff. It's a challenge and a pleasure and a legitimate addiction - I am showing all the signs, including physical symptoms of withdrawal when I finish a story. Tim Kring, please pay my rehab bills. (Do they have rehab for people who are addicted to writing fan fiction?... they should.)
I'm just trying to keep my shit together for the weekend - a fabulous wedding, friends coming in from out of town, etc. Trying not to get sick - lots of other folks are, and it's pretty bad, too. I feel fine, except for the fatigue, the tricky appetite, and the total lack of temperature regulation, but even that's starting to even out.
I am happy, more or less.
