Yeeks, lunar eclipse! Shit is going to be fucked up tonight!

And here's me and all I want to do is curl up and read comics. I have just started two series that are both so similar in storyline and tone to Heroes that I think both comics creators should sue Tim Kring - or maybe they already went tag-team in a kiddie pool filled with nacho cheese ( Read more... )

Well, the short answer is, I know HOW to do it; I am surrounded by the process all day long, five days a week, and I increasingly read comics on the weekends, too. It's about how to get the right idea, because once the right idea is in my mind, I know exactly how to go about scripting it and how it's done.

The hard part is coming up with an idea that is best served in the comics medium. My novels are unsuitable for adaptation, because they are literary novels, and most of what's interesting and good about them isn't in the form of action. Two heads in a panel saying witty dialogue is interesting only up to a point - nobody who publishes mainstream comics would want to go anywhere near it. Alternative comics, really, either.

Also my novels are unsuitable for adaptation because they're just too filthy. I'd have to radically change certain important plot points to have a prayer of selling the idea.

I need an original idea that I haven't done before, and ideally that almost nobody else has ever done before, either. But trying to come up with something brilliant on command is not exactly my strong point.

love you, see you soon!
