Feel old recently?
No you haven't. Not yet.
This year is the
20th anniversary of the release of the film THE LOST BOYS. Well, I'm grateful for it, I guess - watching this movie every single day my senior year of high school is definitely the thing that made me start writing vampire fiction, out of a combination of inexorable attraction to the vampire concept, and disgust that the vampires, always much sexier, wittier, and funner than the dumb-ass humans, always get staked at the end. I stood up and said "Hell no, if they just slaughtered the pimple-faces and the oldsters and the whiny clearance-rack-Ally-Sheedy bitch, they'd have such a better story!" ... and there you have it.
I can't watch this movie anymore, as its Joel Schumacher-ness and agonizingly shitty dialogue is too much for me to take, but maybe if I had it on DVD, and could watch it in Spanish, and skip past any parts that don't have Kiefer Sutherland or Jason Patric in them, I could maybe take it, for they bring the pretty (no matter how embarassing their hairstyles were).
