Heroes 1-11: Fallout

I love this show so freakin' much. Am currently watching for the third time, as NBC has been so nice as to show it again tonight. It'd be groovy if they'd keep doing that, repeating the last two episodes every other Saturday... oh well.

Anyway, awesome again.

Eden, Eden. How I miss you, love you, noble freak; your time on earth was so short, and most of it spent running. I wish you had had more common goddamn sense when it came to a psycho like Sylar; did you really have that little acceptance or knowledge about his power? This is the fatal flaw of superheroes; they think their abilities make them invincible. Dumbass. I love you and miss you and your amazing rear end. God, how I dreamt about that ass and wished we'd have more profile views of you in stilettos and skinny jeans. Hell with J.Lo; she's only got horizontal jut, while you, Ms. Zehetner, have the perfect bubble. Must watch BRICK asap.

Notice that Matt Parkman starts munching on pills just when he gets to the patch of blood left by the injured Sylar? Then he suddenly notices differences in the tracks. Is his ability expanding? No wonder his head hurts, between that and the sexual tension the poor guy has to deal with every day. Clea Duvall is yummy. I hate to say it, but her being thinner doesn't hurt her looks at all. She's even hotter now than she was on Carnivale in her semi-drag 30s ladies slacks and Oklahoma freckles. Sigh. Dream.

OK, that's enough of my womanlust side - let's sexually objectify some XYs! Peter is screamingly hot in his first bad dream in the big house. Total hair porn fanservice. That look of pain on his face when "Nathan" tells him he can't save the world is teh heartbreaking. How to make him sexier? Cover him in drying blood. Am I weird? im on yr teeveez, rockin yr pants. That Milo! But I wonder if Sylar is a dreamwalker, himself; if he's gotten that information out of Peter, about Nathan, about the other supers, that's so EEEEVIIILLLL, but it's not Pete's fault; if he going to have to learn conscious control of what he says and does, even in dreams? (I walk with you. I talk to you. You're mine, all the time.)

And what's with that blurry edge on the right side of the frame when Matt and Audrey come in to interrogate Peter? Is it visual shorthand for "totally sweet scene about to happen" or is it just a sloppily drawn deep focus? In this day and age, nobody leaves a blurry edge on their screen unless it means something. That whole interrogation scene is a beautiful thing; so much transpires in something like two minutes of screentime. But Peter's a doof if he'd take pills given to him by people who are essentially holding him prisoner; those could have been anything. Maybe they were taken from Dr. House's secret secret secret stash of Vicodin. I bet House gets some killer weed, too. Peter so needs some right now.

Isaac now has a keycard to Primatech. JESUS! I've probably read a hundred pages of feedback and commentary about this episode and nobody's mentioned that yet. He goes and meets up with our sexy shonen - OMG the hijinks they'll have, with all that free paper! And Eden kisses him, too, which makes her kind of a kiss slut. What about Mohinder? Oh well, he's boring anyway. Oh and Mohinder! On the phone to the FBI! Way to out the heroes! Is Audrey Hanson ever going to be told about Mohinder's phone calls, and the research of the Sureshes? Is he going to have to become their consultant on the Sylar case? (Which, OK, I don't mind that - Mohinder needs things to do, maybe some high-action scrapes and scares and rescues. Or maybe Sendhil Ramamurthy needs to get cast in something else. He's gorgeous, and he's a perfectly capable actor, but the guy needs to start earning his keep. I - and probably some others - don't just love Milo because he's cute, but also because his character actually has a lot of impact, and he really inhabits his role well. Mohinder is the data center, or should be; how can we make that interesting?)

Have I mentioned how much I love Hiro's cracked-out bedhead? It's so great. Masi Oka is a total slampiece. No, it's not fair how much more lust is being poured out for Milo, but there it is; Masi's got better than pure hotness, he's got that special something that makes Heroes a great show. It would still be a good show if he wasn't in it, but with him, it's exceptional. It is simply a delight to watch him each week. I wonder how much his role has been mapped out so far; I wonder if he has any hand in shaping it, which I think would be a REALLY good idea. Masi knows Japanese culture (and with all that honor and face complexity, that's a hell of a thing), he knows comics and other heroic adventure stories (guy worked at ILM; he knows exactly all the little fragments that go into the production of something that is seamless on the screen), and he's willing to challenge himself and prevail. Because he's a genius. And a hottie. Mostly a hottie because he's a genius. And yeah, it does work that way. Ask Marilyn Monroe.

Niki? Yr dumb. Your kid's dumb, too. Ali Larter, you are kicking ass and owning all. Too bad Niki is dumb. Jessica's not dumb, but she's a psychopath, and ... well, I'm OK with psychopaths.

Matt? You have GOT to stop snorting dry Swiss Miss. Are there marshmallows trapped in your nose hairs? Anyway, nice try, but nothing stops the Hot Haitian and his tailored linen pants and moccasins. I love the bit when he's trying to teep from a distance, and he hits the invisible wall and bounces back. Hehehehehe! Psyche. No. That guy's stronger than you are, as well as better dressed and way more fit. Jimmy Jean-Louis isn't as adurrrable as Leonard Roberts, but thanks to the powers that be that there are these two fine slabs of black man on my TV. I'm sure DL's got a brother; bring him on.

Ok, one more bit of female objectification - Hayden's jugs a-chuggin' as he runs during Peter's vision at the end - good god, mamma! You need a better sports bra - they're not supposed to move like that! I am reminded of a line sampled on Fatboy Slim's song, "Talkin' 'Bout My Baby" - "Like two big ol' balloons in a hurricane". Wow, I need a cold towel. Girl is seriously cute. I think she and Masi are the best actors on this show, closely followed by Ali Larter and Jack Coleman. Milo's "the bomb" (sorry, I had to sneak that in somewhere) and Adrian Pasdar excels at that slimy thing he does, and James Kyson Lee is awesome; but even Milo just hasn't given me as much as Hayden has. I really, really hope that she doesn't start hanging around with Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan - well, more than she already does. I don't want to see her cooch until she's at least 21, and I don't want her losing a scrap of that acting ability to the demon cocaine (and the worse demon, constant boozing and clubbing). Hopefully this steady TV gig will keep her too busy to ruin herself until she's old enough to know better - then again I don't want Heroes going over the 5-year mark, and she'll only be 22 then... I hope that's old enough.

Oh Man, it's such a long time till January 22nd, but I welcome the time to review the earlier episodes and maybe watch another series on DVD, or maybe interact with the world at large. Hmm. I should try that. :)
