"Your friend - D."

Yes, it's true - BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA is a really, really awful movie. But I totally, totally love it. It's fantastic for a laugh - everything from the awesome slutness of our two female leads (Winona "Wanna" Ryder and Sadie "I Fucked Jude Law And Kate Moss - At The Same Time" Frost) to the horrifically poor acting skills of Keanu Reeves, to ( Read more... )

I LOVE YOU SO MUCH.

Yes, it's true - BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA is a really, really awful movie. But I totally, totally love it.

For REALZ. I think I have seen it 25 times. I was so obsessed with it when it came out I saw it two days in a row and then like, 4 more times in the theatre after that. And I was a poor college student withouth my own transportation! That's dedication.

My sister and I still say, "Your Friend...D" all the time. And also:

"Why, you're as fresh as a spring rain."

"Mina, Mina, I love him! Lord and Lady Holmwood."

"You my dear, are one of the lights."

"I say, is the castle far?"

"YOU GIVE IT TO THE PRETTY WOMAN!"

There is a guy that lives in our building that my husband and I call "The Mess" because he literally looks like Waits as Van Helsing only much smellier and more disheveled. It's terrifying.

Gary Oldman's hottness in that film still kills me. With the curly hair and the tophat and the gloves and HOLY FOOK. I went to the record store every week for two months until I finally got the soundtrack. It's one of my favourite things ever.

"She's hotter than a June bride ridin' bareback buck nekkid in the middle of the summer!"

"I have crossed oceans of time to find you..."

"Music?! Those animals?!"

"Bloody wolves chasing me through some blue inferno..."

and the ultimate Tom Waits line, which I desperately want to sample into some goth-rock, Skinny-Puppy-esque dirge:
"I'm not a lunatic, I'M A SANE MAN FIGHTING FOR HIS SOWWWWWWL!"

I still have the complete collection of the trading cards. Je suis un dork.

Yeah, trading cards. I don't even remember how they were sold; they were a gift from someone else - my pal Geoff, who wrote and illustrated two of the most brilliant comix ever - a parody of this and of BAD LIEUTENANT, starring him and all of our pals. Sure, he was undergoing a psychotic break, but what audacity!
