a/n This fic is inspired by 'Into Eternity', a song by Jens Lekman, un beta-ed

Nino sit cross legged in a chair in front of the microphone, forehead pressed against the table where sheets of paper with lyrics splayed out. They’re in the middle of recording for their new song and Nino has hit the wall. He’s been replaying the song for the nth time, singing it in hundreds of ways and still can’t get it right. Whether he messed up he lyric, or didn’t get the pitch right. But it’s all his fault.

He bangs his head desperately on the table, causing a dull thump thump noise. They staff just looks at him through the glass window from across the room and waits patiently until he’s ready to start again. It’s almost 11 at night, and they’re all too tired to complain. As much as they want to pack things up and go home, they all know that Nino isn’t the type of people who will leave things undone. They know he would want to finish this tonight. Especially when the rest of the members had finished their part today.

A lot of things ran in Nino’s mind right now.

Why can’t I get it right? If even Aiba can get his part done in a day, why can’t I? And he’s the one who often forgets even the simplest lyric.

He shouldn’t have ignored the staff when they call him telling him that it’s his turn to record. Instead he tell Sho that he can take his turn so he can finish his defeating the final boss in Dragon Quest.

He turn his head and see the look on the staffs face across the room. One of the lady staff sitting in front of the mixer smiled at him. Nino return it with a tired smile. He realized that he’s not alone in this. They must’ve been tired too. And who is he to let them work until late like this and preventing them to do whatever it is they’re going to do after this.

So he closed his eyes and regain his composure. He’s about to lift his head when he felt a hand on his head. Without lifting his head he turn to his right and see Ohno standing beside him holding a paint-brush decorated cap that he made during a photo shoot some months ago.

“Hello.” He said to Nino with a soft smile on his face.

Nino notice Ohno is still wearing the same clothes he wore when they met this morning.

“What are you doing here? I thought you’d gone home already.”

“I forgot this,” He showed the cap he’s holding. “And one of the staff told me you’re still here. So I thought I come by and said hi.”

Nino growls in frustration, nuzzling into Ohno’s soft hand while doing so. “I can’t get it right.”

The leader chuckled. “Yes you can. You’re just tired.” He finally take his hand of Nino’s head. Nino lift his upper half body up and leaned to Ohno instead. He buried his head on Ohno’s T-shirt clad chest and just stayed there.

For a moment, neither of them moved. In a sound proof room like that, Nino can hear the sound of the older man’s heart beat clearly. It’s a constant rhythm that is soothing his mind and lulling him to sleep. He closed his eyes, then lift both of his hands and wrapped it around Ohno’s waist. He breathed in the scent that is so Ohno deeply. A smell of worn out T-shirt mixed with sweat, perfume, and, perhaps he’s imagining it, sea. Ohno doesn’t seem to mind. Instead, he dropped his head until his forehead hit Nino’s head and nuzzling Nino’s dark hair, and stayed like that for a while.

And for a moment, the whole world around them seems to vanish.

Because in a moment like this, the only thing they feel is each other.

In a moment like this, Nino wants to hold Ohno tighter, then whisper “I love you, I love you,” and repeated it a thousand times until his voice is hoarse.

In a moment like this, all Nino wants to do is captured it in his mind, and take it into eternity.

Ohno kissed him on the head and said, “Go home. Have a rest. You can do this tomorrow.”

In seconds, the studio, the staffs, and everything else comes back and folds around them again. Nino’s been unwillingly dragged into reality.

So Nino grabbed hold of Ohno’s arm and Ohno helped him lift his body up. Face to face, Nino looked at the older guy with a tired eyes.

“Take me home.”

Ohno just smiled and nod.

If I had to choose a moment in time

to take with me into eternity

I'd choose this moment with you in my arms
