Local Republicans Panic

(Grass Valley, CA) Congressional Candidate Theodore Terbolizard is sounding the alarm about what he believes is a very dangerous trend inside the Republican Party, a trend that is striking serious concern amongst the local GOP faithful. Republican Terbolizard, who is running a low-cost, grassroots campaign for the 4th Congressional District seat being vacated by retiring incumbent John T. Doolittle (R-CA), has been meeting personally with various Republican groups on the campaign trail, where he is hearing the same message from constituents over and over again.

"We're Doomed"

"Already, folks are having a hard time adjusting to John McCain being the only front runner in the Republican Presidential race, and from around the country and throughout the district, I keep hearing the same thing over and over again: 'We're Doomed'" says Terbolizard, "McCain represents the big-government bureaucrat side of our party, and on issue after issue, he sounds far more like Hillary Clinton than the 'Low Taxes, Smaller Government' conservative message most Republicans believe in."

In California, 4th District Candidate Doug Ose (R)- who has already served three terms in the United States House of Representatives for the neighboring 3rd District- represents this same trend according to Terbolizard: "Ose is another career politician with a proven track record of voting for record deficits and bigger government." On the ground, Terbolizard reports that "privately, amongst local party leaders, the discussion has shifted away from 'How do we beat [Democrat] Charlie Brown in November' to 'We must beat Ose in the June primary at all costs.'"

Ose, who does not live in the 4th district, already has announced a huge war chest of political campaign funds, and has been sending representatives from his campaign to nearly all local Republican gatherings in recent weeks. "It's kind of a weird feeling to know that you've got folks from one of the campaigns monitoring your meetings, it feels like there are thugs or goons in the room," says Terbolizard, who also says that "people generally respond very well to any candidate that shows their face in public; folks want to meet their future representative, not be spied on by their paid henchmen."

"The big fight inside the Republican party right now is between the big government side and the small-government conservatives. This is the same fight Barry Goldwater Sr. won against the Rockefellers in my late father's day," says Terbolizard.
