I'm still upset that my laptop had been looked at; when I picked it up earlier today, I could immediately tell it had been tampered with, and I told the two officers present that was the case. The battery had been worn down all the way and shut down; if the lid had remained closed it could have retained power for as long as a week. The officers explained that there had been no warrant issued to look at the computer and that it hadn't been, yet it was clear to me that it had. What do the contents of a laptop have to do with a routine misdemeanor DUI? Further, my Blackberry was powered down by an officer when it was confiscated, yet when I got it back, it was powered on. Why did someone turn it on, and what does that have to do with a misdemeanor DUI?
That is very suspicious. Honestly I would think you were being paranoid, but I recently watched a documentary called Street Fight, and I learned that even local politics can get pretty shady.
