1) Should the closets in the upstairs rooms be on the outer walls rather than the inner wall that can go away? It seems like putting them on the outer walls would be better for insulation and for the Making One Really Big Room factor.
2) Your house actually sounds like my step-aunt's house out in the forests near Pittsburgh! She had the same thing with a big open first floor and a staircase in the middle, and it actually had a very treehouse-like feel to it in some ways.
3) Heh, I just noticed that Dai went to Shigisho. Which from a baseball perspective is not quite as exciting as Kengisho, but still pretty cool (I remember watching them play in Koshien a few years back).
