October 20: wear purple for queer youth
ETA: My mama's in! I'm particularly glad, because she works in a very visible position at a private school in my hometown. Little gays will feel safe knowing that she's on their side.
Signal boost: October 20th is "Spirit Day," which sounds like something lame you'd be forced to do in high school, but is actually something awesome that you can do for people who are still in that sad state. Wearing purple on the 20th (tomorrow) will indicate your support to any little lesbians, bisexuals, gays, transgenders and other young freaks who might see you. This comes in the wake of a spate of gay teens committing suicide, in the mistaken belief that the world agrees with the bullies. You know I don't, so I'll be wearing purple tomorrow, too.
