A very long break, on account of ALL of my most ardent readers being a) away on holiday in Pandan Indah; b) away on holiday in Vietnam and Cambodia, last I heard. Oh well, I am secretly hoping for a non-tacky souvenir.
Report on the last week - has been exhilarating. My blog is increasingly starting to sound like the Life and Times of one of the Less Well-Rested Denizens on Planet Earth, but I speak the truth. Newcastle, with the aid of a few rather get-out-and-go-ish people, is starting to acquire a life of its own.
Sunday was spent in the rather cheerful company of 200 screaming African people, at the Sugar and Spice Festival, the annual Afro-Carribean festival in Newcastle. Suffice to say that the jazz band was just. Awesome. And the snippets of the second act I caught, the closing act, was psychedelically cool. Think dismembered voice amidst lush orchestration of strings.
The closing act was, unfortunately, missed, due to the Kak Mona/Abang Haikal Raya invitation at their cozy little pad in Bowsden Court.
Again, I thank God for every moment I spend with them. They've pretty much been my foster parents - of sorts - here, and everytime I pop by to tuck into Malaysiana with relish, play their guitar, play with the kids, chill out in front of the TV, and just generally sound less like a stressed medical student, I know that this family will be in my heart for as long as I live.
Speaking of stressed medical student...I have just lost copious amounts of blood in a nasty Clinical Skills lecture.
Zaff took my blood. TWICE. And missed both times.
I sense a logical contradiction somewhere in the past two lines, funnily enough.
Yes, there was no blood, just pain.
