update

Well, it's now been 8 days that I've been in my new apartment. And I love it. It's right across the street from Cameron Village, and a half mile to campus. I could even walk to Glenwood South, but it would take about 25 minutes. I've still got some things to get, namely a tv, tv stand, some bookshelves, a few more chairs, and some lamps for the living room, but nothing really major. I've also got to hang my artwork. But it's home. It's my home. And you're all welcome to visit :-)

I've got a new addition to my household, as well. Her name is Adventure, Addie for short. And, boy, is she! In fact, she just stopped me from typing by climbing on the keyboard and rubbing her face against my nose (something she does quite often). She's an adorable bundle of crazy, and I love her. We went on our first field trip yesterday to the opera offices downtown. She had a blast exploring such a big place with many dark spots she can hide in (doesn't help that she's a dark tortie to begin with). She's very independent and very inquisitive. She particularly likes the bathroom, and has even jumped into the tub when I was taking a shower (and didn't get scared of the water). She'll be a fun handful, that's for sure.

My last big piece of news is my new job. Yes, I'm still working as production manager/stage manager for the opera, and that's starting to pick up for our fall production (more on that later). But, as of today, I'm on the waitstaff at Fosters in Cameron Village. Today was my first day of training, and I had a great time. Unfortunately, I have to work 2 shifts on my birthday (which is Saturday), so we'll all celebrate on Sunday. Anyway, come to Fosters! It's a nice sit-down restaurant, and the food is really good.

Classes start in a week. I've got 2 orientations in the coming days. I don't think it's really sunk in that I'm starting graduate school. Am I nuts?!?!?!? Probably. Why else would I get an apartment, a kitten, and a job all in the same week before classes start on top of my job with the opera. I'll be a busy girl...

p.s. - I have a crush on the entire US olympic men's swim team. Damn swimmers have nice bodies...
