Snow, Life and Fandoms

Feb 02, 2021 12:26

It has been snowing here since Sunday night and finally stopped early this AM. We ended up with about 16 inches but it might snow again later. As I have mentioned before I HATE snow. It wouldn't be bad if I had nowhere to go but tomorrow I have a lab appointment. I did manage, with the help of a neighbor, to shovel out the car, so it shouldn't ( Read more... )

You could scroll through the list of fandoms on AO3, or have a look at what's been on Yuletide in the past. Some of the above are Brit shows, but easy to find out about.

Some of these I have never heard of or don't know much about but I did manage to add 12 more fandoms using your list as a guide. Looking at AO3 fandoms is an excellent idea. Thank you.

I second the idea of using AO3. One possible answer to your Avengers question could be that each subtag of the "Marvel Cinematic Universe" tag can be considered its own fandom (oh, but I see AO3 tag wranglers treat all Avengers movies as one fandom - and then the Iron Man movies are a separate fandom on AO3 and the Captain America movies are a separate fandom, and so on).

The comm actually said the decision was up to you but they suggested that you not take shortcuts and "fudge" the challenge.

When I sign up I have to find out if you can do a show and an individual character or a ship. Like can I do BtVS as one fandom and Spuffy as another? Maybe I should find this out before I sign up.

Sure thing, I got that it's up to you. Probably best to talk to them, yeah.

There's no reason you couldn't do the comics as a separate fandom.

And half an hour spent Googling shows you don't know would probably throw up a batch of images people consider 'iconic', which you could them work on with your composition and colouring skills which I know very well are immense.

Well...except it's not quite that easy. You can't just willy nilly make an icon for a fandom, you get a table of 100 prompts and you have to fill them.

It all sounds like it's very time consuming. Although you do get to choose how much time you need to fill the prompt table. Your choices are 6 months, 12 months or 18 months.

You could add things like

Great British Bake Off
The Hairy Bikers
Nigella
Francesco da Mosto (Francesco's Venice)

Or their none-UK equivalents.

And Mythbusters, Alaska the Last Frontier, Deadliest Catch, and so on - all have a big fan bases and are very icon-able :)

Then there are an almost infinite number of books - everything from Shakespeare to Discworld - there is some beautiful Discworld art work.

I love cooking shows but never thought of them. Between cooking shows and DYI shows, I should have quite a bit more. Thanks
