Fandom meetup
Thursday was the Elysian Fields, NYC meetup. Those in attendance were Dark Void 116,yellowb1, OffYourBird, sandy_s, Niamh, Hannah, amidtheflowers. All are spuffy authors/readers and it was a blast meeting them. We met at a bar on E 39th Street then proceeded, by subway to Katz’s Delicatessen” . By the time we were seated at Katz's and got our sandwiches, it was close to nine. Even though my sandwich was yummy, that was too late for me to eat and it sat on my stomach all night. Even with the sleepless night, it was still worth the trip into "the city" to meet everyone.
I've known sandy_s through LJ since 2003 and it was so nice to finally meet her in person. I have been reading Niamh's stories forever an in fact "Baby Love" is one of the stories I re-read quite often. Niamh has also been around fandom forever (even before sandy_s and I became part of fandom.) Out of the bunch of us Niamh was definitely the OG of the bunch. She knows so many of the fandom writers.
I found out that all these years, I have been pronouncing Bangel wrong. I pronounce it like the bracelet. It's really pronounced Bh-angel. Who knew? I like my pronunciation better, so I'll probably stick to the bracelet.
As we were at Katz's, Niamh asked each of us what was the first fiction we read. I said mine was sabershadowkat's Welcome to the Jungle" but now that I think about it, I think it was NautiBitz's "In Heat".
