It was a much nicer place than I'd expected. I chose it for value, since I wanted to save most of my money for our future plans, and since this was a trial trip anyway. But it's not like I chose the absolute most economic location. We wouldn't have had any fun then, so I'm glad that this place is turning out to be quite worth the expense. The outdoor areas have been very well kept, and that always makes the walks easier and more relaxing. The layout was almost mystifying; paths were gently shielded by trees, never fully shadowing any areas but also leaving what was at the end of the paths a surprise. We saw little gardens and ponds and the occasional birds amongst the branches.
I'm sure we both took mental notes on what we would want to do later tonight or perhaps early tomorrow. But what would be happening now is already settled. The end of the tour path we took leads right to the beaches, and the soft white sands have already prompted Rika to pull me further into the sun. I couldn't help but laugh. We're on vacation, dressed in summer clothes and abandoning all schoolwork. Rika is a pleasure to watch; the light color of her dress radiating in the sun and nicely contrasting the sand. It's not too hot, either, luckily, which means Rika's skipping about is truly out of enjoyment and not just avoiding the heat of the sand.
I stole a chuckle to myself there and took a look skyward. The clouds were sparse, leaving plenty of room for a blue sky and--wow, that sun's still pretty bright, isn't it? I'm starting to notice its warmth now; it's not blazing, but we shouldn't need to be reckless now. Rika had just skipped back to me, curious as to my thoughts.
"We should probably apply some sunscreen first, to be sure." Out of the umbrellas already perched about the sands, I pick out a nice one with blue stripes that's fairly isolated from other couples and families and lay down the towel I brought in my tote bag.
