Camping!
Again - I will post pictures when my camera cord gets here! :)
What an amazing weekend!!! It was much needed. May was really a crazy month! Claighton & I both took last Friday off to go to our favorite spot on the Mendocino Coast, Manchester Beach. We stayed in our favorite little log cabin. We went shopping & packed Thursday night. It’s about a 4 hour drive, so we arrived around 3pm, and set-up camp.
We played a few rounds of dominos, and then headed down to the beach with a couple bottles of wine, and kites in tow :) When I was at Target the day before, I found a couple kites for $2.50/each. Claighton got an Ironman one, and I got Sesame Street (there were no cool choices for girls). It was SO MUCH FUN! The best part was making out on the beach - haven’t done that in years, felt like we totally reconnected on this trip, just what we needed.
We walked back to camp, and made foil dinners, sat by the camp fire, and played games.
Saturday, we woke up - showered, made hot cocoa, and breakfast then went fishing. Drove to Point Arena, and we set up our camp chairs on the pier, and Claighton fished, we were there about 4 hours, and never caught a thing - bummer….. we would have thrown it back, but still wish he would have caught something, that would have made him happy. Oh well. Afterwards, we drove into town to get dinner, they weren’t going to open for another 30 minutes, so we stopped at a bar & had a few drinks. The locals were talking about sobering a champagne bottle, and Claighton told them how to do it - they were so excited, they went next door to the liquor store and bought a bottle and had Claighton saber it. Funny :)
We had dinner at the Phoenix, they had delicious food! I had chicken fettucini alfredo, and Claighton had lasagna - so good! Stopped back at the bar for one more drink, and then headed back to camp. We made a massive fire that lasted for HOURS - played Uno, and drank some beer. Past out fairly early (midnight or so). Woke up, packed up and headed home. Got lost in Petaluma for a while trying to find gas & food - but, ultimately made it home by 3:00 - unpacked, and did laundry - showered, while Claighton watched Disturbia ….. all done with chores by 4:30 or so, and then ordered pizza, and CHILLED! Watched Ralphie May’s new DVD, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. All in all, great weekend!!!!!
