So, it looks like this Boston girl might be taking her act down south to the land of the Evil Empire and the five boroughs.
Since I graduated two weeks ago, I've been going on interviews for full-time jobs. I really want to get some more full time teaching experience under my belt before I apply for doctoral programs. I've been sending out my resume since February. One would think that the Boston girl would get interviews for teaching jobs here in the Bay State. I mean, how many colleges are here?
Fast forward a couple of months. Several rejections later, I finally get some hits on my resume for teaching jobs. In NEW YORK. Yes, dear readers, you read that right. I have my very first interview for a full time English teacher position at one of the top charter schools in the city. Much to my parents' chagrin, the job is in Harlem. And I just realized that I am navigating the NYC public transit system by myself.
Oh, lord. What did I get myself into? So, if you see a confused looking curly haired girl in a suit, its probably me. Keep your fingers crossed that I don't get lost and my accent does not come out.
