Because I am lame I haven't posted in the 2006 calender year, but I think I can claim a number of legitimate distractions, not least the fact that The Baby was born with a instant obsession with computers and can't leave me in peace with my laptop when she's awake, and I'm usually too tired to do anything but read
Fark or
Dooce when she's not.
As to The Baby, she's going to be a year old soon, which is beyond weird. She recently took her first two very shaky (and yet to be repeated) steps. She's starting to say vaguely word-like sounds, and is clearly recognizing all sorts of the things we say to her, which reminds me that I've yet to successfully clean up my own "colorful" vocabulary.

I'm now without a car. The Acura was broken into 3 times in two months -- the last time they took the seats out. With the help of craigslist and fueled by DEEPLY FELT irritation I managed to unload what was left of it in 12 hours. However, I've found that the combination of motorcycle, bicycle, and occasional carpool with coworkers is doing me just fine, so I'm not in any hurry to sign back up for San Francisco car insurance rates or further enrich the oil industry.
For the record, riding a bicycle downtown in the morning is pleasant, riding it back to the Sunset in the evening is not, though it does make me feel pious about my claims to being on an exercise program.
