Hey, my work is improving!
I work at the Reno Depot on St Jacques over by the Montreal West train station in the hardware section and I have managed to convince my boss that the quincallerie (French for hardware section) needs a tool demo and course section and that I should run it.
Now I get to do interesting projects and demo tools to people. In the new year my schedule should be getting regular. Since demoing tools and offering course works best when it's on a regular schedule I convinced boss Steve that I should work Tuesday to Saturday (though mostly in the evenings) thus giving the all important Sunday for brunch free and more time during the week to provide either entertainmnet for Alice and Callum or doing more of the things that need doing around here when Callum is getting nursed.
So exciting stuff!
Unfortunately the bosses are apparently planning to reduce hours and not do much hiring (even if people leave, and we're understaffed already!) so in the new year I will probably be working 30 to 34 hours a week, probably shorter days (starting letter) though thanks to the modern wonders of tax structures the take home pay will be virtually the same. Hmmmm.
And now about Callum!
We took hime to the CLSC today and he is over 11 pounds and 6 ounces. This means he has been growing almost half a pound per week. To put that in context the CLSC gets all freaked out if your baby doesn't regain their birt weight three weeks after birt. Callum managed that before his first week was out and rather than half a pound per month which is a norm among babies. He is certainly getting longer and heavier and is being much more responsive and is even starting to sleep through hours of the night rather than hourly diaper changes. He is cluster feeding a lot in the evenings (feeding several hours in a row) and though he does spit up it isn't as bad as it was for a while. He's actively smiling and really likes looking at people's faces and will ape your expression if you make a face at him. And he is still the cutest baby in the world, of course. And Alice is a super mom. She's really attentive and responsible and dispite minor hiccups (every day isn't going to be a success) Callum is getting exactly what he needs right now which is lots of love and attention, even if that means a nipple to suck on.
