7am: Wake up, get dressed
7:30: Leave with family for soccer field
7:45: Set up goals and such for Jack's game. Gorgeous morning, already in the low 70s, clear, and the ground is dry.
8:00: Jack's game. We split the kids in half and run two games simultaneously, each one 5v5. Jack's half of our team won 3-1. The other half of our team won 12-0. Jack played great! He was very aggressive as goalie, and made lots of good long shots and long passes. He is communicating well with his teammates and having a lot of fun. The parents of my team at that age group have great attitudes, they are a lot of fun and take the game roughly as seriously as it should be taken (which is to say: they're encouraging and enthusiastic but not overly competitive, and they cheer when the kids on the other teams make good plays too).
8:30: Come home, start cleaning out car, van, and porch.
9:40: Take Jimmy down to the field to ref.
10:00: Clean out car, van, and porch.
11:30: Go down to watch the end of Jimmy's second reffing game. Talk to our referee coordinator, who says he's doing a great job and we're all looking forward to him getting certified after he turns 12. Also discuss various soccer-club stuff.
12:15: Take Jimmy home, eat lunch, he changes clothes. Continue work on porch and cars.
1:45: Leave to pick up Jimmy's friend Liam for Jimmy's afternoon soccer game.
2:30: Arrive at Jimmy's afternoon soccer game. Get kids warmed up. Persuade a player who forgot her cleats that she can play in her mom's sneakers. Opposing coach suggests that we should play 9v9 on a field that is too small to play 7v7 on. Fortunately we don't have enough kids to play 9v9 anyway.
3:00: Jimmy's game starts; he is in goal and is bound and determined to score a goal with a punt. Tommy W, one of the most talented kids in the entire league, scores three goals in five minutes. Opposing coach asks me to call off the dogs. I do -- Tommy comes out and then plays defense. Nevertheless, it's 6-0 at halftime. For the second half, Jimmy comes out of goal, and Tommy W goes into goal. Opposing coach asks if he can put an additional player on the field, I ask to clarify 'are you asking to play 8v8 or are you asking if you can put on an extra player and me not,' and he indicates the latter. This is OK by me.

Note: Jimmy, before today, had never scored a goal in outdoor soccer when greenlion was at the game. Today in the second half the better kids on the team were deliberately feeding him balls so that he could shoot and break "THE CURSE," which he managed to do about midway through the half. We win 9-0. I really don't feel all that great about the win.

4:15: We stop for Rita's italian ice on the way home from the game, then drop the other kids off and head home.
5:00: Catch the end of Pens-Flyers, woo hoo.
5:40: Head to Wilkins to do some grownup soccer practice.
6:15 or so to 7:45 or so: Play soccer with grownups (and with Jimmy).

Now: Trying to do redlines. Very, very tired. May finish redlines in the morning.
