input to the literary salon

Jul 08, 2007 12:06

dear Livejournal,
again, it's been awhile, seems as though everytime we rendezvous I say the same thing... but that is just fine.
I enjoy popping into the literary salon to listen to the writers, the artists, the psychologists, the younger generation speak- rather, use a combinatrion of words to describe their lives.
I've been spending a lot of time with my collection of friends on the Facebook. Comsuming. Understanding the ultiamate point of the thing, of the life on the internet. "Real" life has too many expectations and social rules to follow, feelings and whatnot... whereas the internet is more free-range, come and go as you please,
stop.
think.
about what you're going to say, take your time putting the syllables together use spaces, periods, commas, to indicate intination, or some sort of emotion.
That's it!
The emotion, that is what's missing. Exclamation points and sounding out the way we sound when we're excited, sad, sarcastic, isn't nearly close enough to the real thing... the way your head feels after you laugh till your eyes leak. drip. ping down your cheek(s), the look on the other person's face when you surprise them,
a smile. :)
I'm glad to have found people I've known before(now). re-enter my life via a picture or two and a generalized breakdown of that person's life as it stands now. I don't need to create textile conversation because all the information is there! I have been updated. This is good[?]. And now, you are updated! all without exchanging any words.
A pre-set button to push to become friends. We are friends now. I shall add you to my collection and I sit back and feel satisfied. How much more satisfied am I to have someone else push my "friend" button! Yes! people want to be my friend! we will never rendezvous in a social setting, in a social "real" flesh, blood, brain, and mouth setting, however you are in my collection of friends, which I can send pictures to (and call them gifts), write on your wall (and call it conversation), and read your BLOG (which makes me think of flies, mud, water, and the Southern States). Then I have a feeling of which state of mind you are in, and cued to chose a mood from the list of appropriate emotions and make a face out of grammatical symbols... :( :S :V ?
This is human nature in text. It is fun!!(?)
I do care about the people in my collection, there are levels of caring from very much so love and hugs to the automatic setting. Automatic is different for everyone. I generally care about people, I hope for the best for some, others need to pull themSELVES up, others are running with their blinders on. Slow down. There will be some sort of alteration soon. There is no right or wrong, just what feels good and bad.
I am a Libra- I strive for stability, I don't like bad feelings... anxiety, disagreement, argument, jealousy, guilt, embarassment has to be the biggest one,(don't laugh at me, but with me. please.) unfairness, superiority, pretentiousness, lies, "no", "the best", etc.
Although I seem blind and deaf to when I'm exhibiting these words. It happens. Such is life.
...What happens after? The biggest question of all, which no one can answer, but everyone claims to have it. Is the meaning of life to worship a false ideal to make yourself comfortable? We're the 21st century now. Robots, "hands-free" technology, a popcorn preset on every microwave, thumb ID at Ozone, the Internet. And Christianity is still "the way to live". Fear is the emotion to play upon, especially in masses [just started reading GOD IS NOT GREAT by Christopher Hitchens, and I can't get over it].
Love me or burn eternally in Hell! Torture! Fire! Screaming! Pain! and suffering. ! The opposite of which is Heaven... clouds, angels, uhmm... food? love? Jesus? Do you actually get to meet God and Jesus? Do they thank you for [wasting] your life worshipping them and doing everything for them because Jesus was God's son and he died for your sins? He didn't die for the people's sins, he died because he was a heretic with silly beliefs... right? Thats the impression I got from Mel Gibson's biography of Jesus. Oh the blood. Oh the... LOVE! for this Man from 6,000 years ago! He helped the blind to see! (why not blindness altogether) He was ressurected after his death! (how many times have I thought Ive seen my cat). I belong to the I LOVE GOD WITH ALL MY HEART group (the capital letters make it that much more hilarious) on the Facebook, and many of the "diehards" say if they proved the ressurection wrong, they would throw their entire faith out the window...
...[that look where you're hastily waiting for them to say what they said they would because its so rediculous in the first place you don't understand why they won't and you're kind of getting angry cause it doesnt make any sense]
Born of a virgin?! what! Most religions, their main character is born of a virgin, or something silly like a star fell from the sky and became a handsome man and then a fucking flower pollinated it and made a woman, then they kissed and thats how babies are made... [fuck]. Nothing can be born of a virgin unless you're asexual, and usually those are microbes, plants, and insects. Why is it such a... blasphemous subject when not in the "traditional" married men and woman only to make baby, sense? Us and dolphins do it for pleasure and do it alone.
Why do you think dolphins always look happy.
As humans do, we've gotten too carried away and there are too many babies, and STD's, and depending on the type of Catholism, or Christianity (aren't they the same thing?) condoms are BAD because it's promoting sex and no babies! oh my god (thou shalt not use thy lord's name in vain!) Tell that to your priests who do unspeakable acts to little girls and boys, of which are just learning the way of the world, whose parents are loyal church supporters, you just move them to different cities to protect their reputation, to protect the church, but... not the children?...
TED HAGGARD. "I bought meth from a male prostitute, but threw it out." "I am working on my homosexual tendencies" God hates you now, not only did you "throw away methamphedamine" but homosexual tendencies? Thats a sin! A sin that you spoke harsh words of, while it was happening within yourself. Isn't hypocrasy a sin? Did God say in the Bible (old testament?/ new testament?) "Do as I say(eth) but not as I do(eth)"?
The 10 commandments are a great template (key word: template... build off of it) of which to base your life from... but everything else, being taken so literally, come on now! How many years later, how far we've come in science (granted, there are things that science probably can't solve, which is the fun of life [and there are sub-molecules!]), our knowledge of the cultures around the world, evolution (both knowledge of and being part of), we can't figure out that Noah's ark is a story of... I dunno, teamwork? preparation? listen to the weather forecast? help thy fellow neighbour? building standards? Not literally building an ark and literally putting 2 of every single species
(that's: Numbers of species
Insects make up the vast majority of animal species.As a soft guide, however, the numbers of identified modern species as of 2004 can be broken down as follows: [3]

287,655 plants, including:
15,000 mosses,
13,025 ferns,
980 gymnosperms,
199,350 dicotyledons,
59,300 monocotyledons;
74,000-120,000 fungi[2];
10,000 lichens;
1,250,000 animals, including:
1,190,200 invertebrates:
950,000 insects,
70,000 mollusks,
40,000 crustaceans,
130,200 others;
58,808 vertebrates:
29,300 fish,
5,743 amphibians,
8,240 reptiles,
10,234 birds, (9799 extant as of 2006)
5,416 mammals.
However the total number of species for some phyla may be much higher:
5-10 million bacteria[3];
1.5 million fungi[2]; )

Thank you Wikipedia.
Okay the rant of Christianity has gone far enough. I'll just put the 10 commandments also thanks to Wikipedia

The Ten Commandments Exodus 20:2-17 Deuteronomy 5:6-21
2 I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery;

3 you shall have no other gods before me.

4 You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing children for the iniquity of parents, to the third and the fourth generation of those who reject me,

6 but showing steadfast love to the thousandth generation of those who love me and keep my commandments.

7 You shall not make wrongful use of the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not acquit anyone who misuses his name.

8 Remember the Sabbath day, and keep it holy.

9 For six days you shall labour and do all your work.

10 But the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God; you shall not do any work-you, your son or your daughter, your male or female slave, your livestock, or the alien resident in your towns.

11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but rested the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and consecrated it.

12 Honour your father and your mother, so that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.

13 You shall not murder.

14 You shall not commit adultery.

15 You shall not steal.

16 You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour.

17 You shall not covet your neighbour’s house; you shall not covet your neighbour’s wife, or male or female slave, or ox, or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbour.

Then I ask, what was the point in this? I want people to read it, and spark some conversation, debate, I want to know what you think, how you live your life, your encounters with priests? church in general. I laughed in his face when he gave me a cracker thing, I was like what do I do with this? what is this organization? organ music? I do not dig it.
I don't mean to offend anyone on a personal level, I am not naming names, saying who you are and what your faith is (if any) is wrong... there is no such thing as right or wrong belief systems, whatever works for you (as long as you can back it up [and you have the right to tell me to get my nose out of it, if it's getting to personal]).
I remember my dad telling me that clouds came from mills when I was a kid. Being a kid, I didn't recognize that the laugh after his statement made it "sarcastic" and therefore not real. My parents knew everything because they were older and I learned from them, so for a long time I thought we had a cloud factory. Later on of course I learned that in fact those were polutant chemicals being disposed of into the vast sky. I was disappointed that what I had thought was right for so long was infact wrong, but I was happy that what I knew now was real, and right. Just now, I went for a cigarette because my parents had left and I felt that need, felt good at the time, but when I came inside I was coughing and gagging, and it was disappointing that it sparked those terrible feelings and actions.
Such is life.

But outside is beautiful, flowers are blooming, there's a baseball game at George Bourke park. cheering. excitement. Sun is shining and the sky is blue.
