My first term of University is very nearly over. I must admit, University is not what I expected it to be. However, I'm pressing on with studies and getting great marks in exchange for my hard work.
I spent yesterday at Microsoft Headquarters in Reading with others from the computing framework (in all years). We listened to speakers talk about new technologies and current technologies and some challenging issues facing the IT industry. It's left me feeling inspired and full (after all the free food that was on offer).
Spoken about by Ed Dunhill and Ben Coley: The ImagineCup 2008 (a massive software development/design competition for students). It sounds like a great opportunity to work within a team building software and getting recognition and reward for it. First of all I was slightly upset that with my work commitments I wouldn't be able to compete. Then I thought: I'm working for a company who is building software and we're doing it for business success rewards!
A mountain of work awaits me at Vecsoft and I'm enthusiastic about working through it. I've got barely any University commitments, aside reading course books, until January 14th. But we have an important aim: a live system run!
The future is bright, but it's probably not orange.
Edit @ 7:37am:
After looking back over previous posts I've noticed a positive change in my general outlook. No longer am I wallowing in self-pity, nor am I worried about how much money is in my bank account. Everything is seemingly positive at the moment, but it tends to always be when a year is at a close. Now I feel as though I'm in control.
Recently I've been spending quite a lot of time socially with Ashley, which is always enjoyable. I've met with Adele, a pleasurable and kind person - I look forward to spending more time talking with her.
