I had to write some new fic before I watched EoT part 2. WARNING: SPOILERISH!

Light Up
Summary: The Tenth Doctor’s final moments
A/N: I haven’t seen part 2 of EoT yet, so this is A/U, but I wanted to write a little ficlet about Ten’s regeneration. I don’t own Doctor Who or “Run”. They are owned by far more talented people then I.
Author: T_Bag_Lover

He staggered towards the TARDIS, struggling to hold himself together. He could feel it coming now. There was no escaping for him. Not yet. I’m not ready to go yet. Please no, the Doctor thought as he continued to limp forward, his hand pushing the TARDIS door open, letting himself in.

I'll sing it one last time for you
Then we really have to go
You've been the only thing that's right
In all I've done

In the background, even as the TARDIS doors closed, the Doctor imagined he could hear a high voice singing, almost trying to sooth him into letting go and become a new man. But he didn’t want to! He wasn’t ready! It wasn’t fair!!!!

And I can barely look at you
But every single time I do
I know we'll make it anywhere
Away from here

The Doctor started up the TARDIS, hoping that he could somehow prevent his regeneration from happening, like before, but that had been a fluke. And in the end, it had cost him Donna. Donna Noble, brilliant, marvelous, extraordinary Donna Noble who would never remember him. Pain seared the Doctor’s hearts.

Light up, light up
As if you have a choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice
I'll be right beside you dear

His past seemed to come back to him all at once, no matter how much he tried to prevent it. Rose Tyler, Martha Jones, Jack Harkness, Donna, Wilfred, Sarah Jane… they were all beautiful and each brilliant in their own way. And he would miss them dearly.

Louder louder
And we'll run for our lives
I can hardly speak I understand
Why you can't raise your voice to say

The TARDIS engines whirred to life and the ship started off through the vortex. Pain racked through the Time Lord’s body and he hunched over.

To think I might not see those eyes
Makes it so hard not to cry
And as we say our long goodbye
I nearly do

I still wanted to do so much. It’s not fair, it’s not fair, not fair, not fair!!! The Doctor fought back his tears of sorrow as his hands started to glow gold. This time he would be gone forever.

Light up, light up
As if you have a choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice
I'll be right beside you dear

The Doctor looked up at the ceiling of the TARDIS and screamed his rage and sadness. “I DON’T WANT TO GO!!!!!”

Louder louder
And we'll run for our lives
I can hardly speak I understand
Why you can't raise your voice to say

The Doctor’s entire body glowed gold and the Tenth Doctor closed his eyes as he realized that there truly was no way to fight it. He couldn’t save himself from it. Not this time.  A tear ran down his face slowly, escaping from a closed eyelid.

Light up, light up
As if you have a choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice
I'll be right beside you dear

And then he simply… let go.
