went to see the dead meadow/witch show at the bowery ballroom last night. withc is a band which j mascis plays drums for. while the idea of seeing j mascis sounds cool, i bet he's alot better with dinosaur, though, because this band sucked. my two main complaints were that the band sounded like every bad early 70's hippie stoner rock band. i could draw a comparison to mountain. the other complaint was that mascis wrote shitty drum parts for some of the parts, and was racing a whole bunch. oh well.
dead meadow came in and rocked the fuck out of the place, showing the difference between being derivative and using your influences to make something that is your own. they played a couple new ones and they still sound awesome. whenever the next one comes out it'll be a hell of a record the way cocaine is a hell of a drug.
