This morning the yard was full of fat, waddling and gobbling robins (Bucky cat would have loved it) saying "I got to see about something - I'll see you at the bird bath later." There were 3 Baltimore Orioles trying to feed out of the sugar water feeder at once - tipping it over onto each other. A couple of frumpy baby Cardinals at the seed feeder trying to get their Mom to feed them -- and she is looking at them as if she is saying " What's the matter - Your mouth broke?" We had about an inch of water sitting in a bucket on the back deck, but the druggist said that they had had about 4 inches up at their place. It is great to get up after a good rain. I saw a couple of sandhill cranes beside a new house on the way to town today. All the birds up this way have been flocking together to feed because of the drought, now I hope they can manage a little better. I saw a flock of about fifteen or so wild turkeys close to the church last Saturday Morning. The other birds usually don't flock up so much until just before they fly south for the winter. That reminds me, I have to put up the suet feeder for the birds, and the live trap for the red squirrel that tries to take over the seed, suet and sugar water feeders and eat my wife's rose buds - Boy does that get her steamed. So goes life on the Isanti sand plain
