Prompt 001. Freefall, Leeteuk/Kangin (5/100)
This morning was the same like other morning for Park Jungsu. As vice president of Park Industries, he went to the office early in the morning, arrived around thirty minutes later, put all his stuffs in the room, and straight went to a coffee shop near his office. Jungsu loves the coffee served there, that’s one of the reason.
As usual, Jungsu was greeted by barista named Hankyung. “One Americano for you, Jungsu-sshi,” said Hankyung. Jungsu just nodded and waited in a table. Once he sat, he saw a young woman wearing brown coat entered the coffee shop. Jungsu smiled. That woman was another reason why came to this coffee shop and endured the bitter taste of Americano.
For two years, Jungsu secretly in love with her. That girl, Seo Hyomin, captured Jungsu’s attention with long black hair, small eyes, and smile never left her face when she talked with staffs and customer. From his little investigation, turn out that Hyomin was the owner of his favorite coffee shop. Jungsu never missed the opportunity to visit coffee shop for having a little chat with Hyomin. Jungsu planned to confessed to Hyomin about his true feeling, but too shy to did it.
Hyomin saw Jungsu. “Jungsu-sshi! Nice to meet you,” said Hyomin. She gave Jungsu her best smile, that made Jungsu's heart melted.

Jungsu looked at the mirror for one last time. His appearance looks perfect. This is the big night. Finally, his cousin Kim Youngwoon will introduce his girlfriend. Not only to him, but to their entire family. Their family gathered at wedding reception of Kim Heechul, Youngwoon’s brother. Jungsu recalled his last conversation with Youngwoon two days earlier.
Youngwoon couldn’t hide his excitement when talked about how he asked the lucky girl. Jungsu could only laugh at his cousin’s excitement. Their conversation ended with promise that next family gathering would be Jungsu’s chance to introduce his girl.
Jungsu sighed and looked at his watch. It’s 5.30 PM. His sister probably ready by now and waited for him downstairs. Jungsu walked to his bedsaide table and took a car key. Ready to attend the wedding and met Youngwoon’s new girlfriend.

The wedding ran well. Jungsu enjoyed the party. As usual, Kim Heechul knew how to throw an amazing party. Jungsu congratulated Heechul and his new bride then joined his other relatives for a dinner. There, he met Youngwoon who talked with his parents. Jungsu approached him. “Youngwoon-ah! Congratulation!” said Jungsu. Youngwoon patted his cousin’s shoulder. Both men excused themselves from Jungsu’s parents and decided to go to other side of ballroom to get some drinks.
“So who is this girl?” Jungsu asked after they got their drinks. Youngwoon smiled a bit. “I met her at business meeting. She represented her father in that meeting,” said Youngwoon. Jungsu nodded. “From the way you act, she must be special. We all know your criteria is very,,, strict,” said Jungsu. Youngwoon could only chuckled. “All I ask from a girl is smart, independent, caring person, and beautiful. As simple as that,” said Youngwoon. “That’s what I called strict. Cheers!” said Jungsu, raised his glass. Youngwoon made a toast and laughed.
“Speaking of this girl, where is she?” Jungsu looked around the ballroom. Youngwoon put his glass on the table and checked his cellphone. “Yeah, she had a meeting earlier but she will come. Emergency, she said,” Youngwoon put his cellphone back to his pocket. Right after he put it, his cellphone rang. Youngwoon picked it up and his expression change once he heard the voice. With a glance, Jungsu knew that it was Youngwoon’s girlfriend. He shook his head.
“Sorry, Hyung. She’s here at the lobby,” said Youngwoon and left Jungsu in a hurry. Jungsu finished his drink and joined the party. He met with another Kim’s relatives, like cousins Kim Jongwoon and Kim Ryeowook, his mother’s cousin Kim Kibum and his cute nephews Lee Hyukjae and Lee Donghae. When Jungsu talked with nephews, someone poked his shoulder. It was Youngwoon.
“Hyung, let me introduce you,” said Youngwoon. Jungsu left the little boys with high five and followed Youngwoon. He could see Youngwoon’s parents talked with a girl. “That’s her?” Jungsu asked while they approached the spot. “Yes, Hyung. She meet my parents first,” Youngwoon answered. Once they arrived, Jungsu stopped a bit. The figure looks familiar.
Youngwoon stood beside the girl and his parents looked so happy. Jungsu could only wait. He wasn’t sure why his heart suddenly beat so fast. The more he pay attention to Youngwoon’s girlfriend, the more he felt nervous. When the girl bowed to Youngwoon’s parents, Jungsu prepared himself to be introduced. Youngwoon and his girlfriend turn around, that’s when Jungsu’s heart stopped for a second.
“Hyung, this is my girlfriend, Seo Hyomin. Hyomin-ah, this is Park Jungsu, my cousin,” Youngwoon introduced them. Hyomin smiled brightly. “Actually, we knew each other, Oppa. He’s a regular in my coffee shop!” said Hyomin. “Oh, really? Than I don’t need to introduce you any further,” Youngwoon laughed. Jungsu also forced a bitter laugh. “I’ll get something to drink. What do you want, Hyomin-ah?” asked Youngwoon. “Anything you can get,” Hyomin answered with smile that Jungsu loved. Youngwoon left them alone. Jungsu cleared his throat before continue, “Well, Youngwoon said you two have met in a business meeting.”
“Yes, I represented my father in discussion about cooperation between our company. I represented Seo Pharmaceutical,” said Hyomin. Jungsu felt like suffocated. So she wasn’t an ordinary coffee shop owner. Jungsu tried to control his voice. “Then the coffee shop?” asked Jungsu. “Oh, that’s my obsession. I always dream to have my own escape place if I felt tired with business. So I started the coffee shop because I love coffee to boost up my spirit. I made it from scratch,” said Hyomin proudly. Jungsu could forced a smile. Youngwoon arrived with 2 glasses of wine. He gave it to Hyomin.
Jungsu couldn’t stand it any longer. He excused himself from both of them. “You should introduce Hyomin to the whole family,” said Jungsu. Youngwoon was laughing and Jungsu saw Hyomin’s face turned red. “Okay, Hyung. I will take her to meet Heechul-hyung now,” said Youngwoon. “See you next Monday, Jungsu-sshi,” said Hyomin and left with Youngwoon.
Once they out of sight, Jungsu hurriedly walked to the toilet. Once in the toilet, he entered one of the stall and sat on the floor. He closed his eyes, tried to erase the image of Youngwoon and Hyomin together. His Hyomin.
No, she wasn’t his girl. Never be his girl. It was too late. If only Jungsu said it first,,,
He felt like he was fell from the cliff. The image he saw, it was Youngwoon that push him out of the cliff and stood beside Hyomin. There is no room for Jungsu, the coward Jungsu. Just because he was too shy to confessed. Too afraid of rejection. Now, he was the one that fell hard, with no one to catch.
