Summary: After 17 years, they finally meet. Two fathers, one daughter.
Note: Got this idea after watching news about Super Junior's schedule to orphanage celebrate Doljanchi. Heechul was crying so hard when he was holding a baby. Then I started to write it down.
Seoul, 2025
Kang Jihyo was a teenage girl who will graduated from high school. With long hair, tall body and white skin, lots of boys tried to date her, but she refused them politely. She was an orphan girl, but smart, beautiful and sporty girl. All thanks to her Uncle Kim.
This Uncle Kim, supported all her needs, from education to vacation. She knew about Uncle Kim from the staff in her orphanage since she was 1st grade. The staff encouraged Jihyo to write to Uncle Kim about herself. Since then, every month never failed to write a letter to Uncle Kim and received the reply.
Although they communicate through letter, not once Jihyo met this mysterious Uncle Kim. She hoped that Uncle Kim would meet her on her birthday, or every holiday. Instead, Uncle Kim only sent various gifts as Jihyo requested.
In about a month, Jihyo will graduated from SM High School, one of the prestigious private school in Korea. She continued her study at Dongguk University, took Business Communication, with full scholarship, thanks to her bright brain. She wrote this in her letter.
“Done!” said Jihyo. She put the letter into envelope and hurriedly went to the front office of his orphanage. She ran down the stairs, bumped into several kids, finally arrived. She knocked the door before entered the room. Jihyo greeted one of the staff, Ms. Park.
Ms. Park just smiled. “Another letter? You just sent one last week,” said Ms. Park while accepted Jihyo’s letter. “This letter has invitation for my graduation. I just received it today from school,” said Jihyo. “Okay, I will send it to Mr. Kim today,” said Ms. Park. Jihyo bowed and exit the room.
She walked to her room, get her laptop and bag, and decided to go to nearby cafe. She ordered a cup of caramel macchiato, opened her laptop to write in her blog. She started to wrote.
Ola, Blog...
Today I received an invitation for parents to attend my high school graduation. I’m sure all my friends will give the invitation to their parents. Me? I will give it to Uncle Kim.
I do really hope that he will come. I never met him, we only contact through letter. In this era of technology, we still communicate in old way kekeke. I like it, though. Very personal and he always replied to my letters.
Blog, I do hope he will come. I will introduce him as my parents, who always support me. Most of all, I want to know him in person. Not from a letter, but see him with my own eyes. Able to hug him and say thank you for his love towards me. Without him, I won’t become who I am right now.
Uncle Kim, I do hope you can come to my graduation...

Jihyo pressed the button and her blog post was published. She looked satisfied with the post. Since it was her free time, Jihyo continued to browse internet.

At the corner of the cafe, a man saw the blog post. He read it with smile. He just back from the orphanage near the cafe and got the letter intended to him. He took a glance to the letter beside his laptop, and watched the girl, Jihyo, who giggled to her laptop screen, having a video call with someone. He smiled to see the happy face of Jihyo.
His phone rang. He answered the phone, closed his laptop, packed his belongings and walked out the cafe with phone in his ear. A car already waited in front of the cafe and he enter the car. The car left the cafe.

The graduation day finally here. Jihyo already between her friends. Ms. Park and two other staffs accompanied her to the graduation ceremony. Jihyo nervous for one good reason. Will Uncle Kim come today. As a tradition in her school’s graduation, every students will receive diploma from their parents. When her teacher asked who will give the diploma for her, she gave two names. One was Ms. Park and the other name was Uncle Kim.
One by one, her fellow students walked to the stage. On the stage, headmaster, teachers, and parents, waited them. Headmaster and teachers congratulated them. Then they walked straight to their parents, who already waited with their diploma. Together, the students walked down the stage with their parents, hold hands tightly.
Jihyo’s heart felt heavy. She hold her tears, realized that Uncle Kim wouldn’t come. She closed her eyes with her hand. Then her friend nudged her, it was her turn. Jihyo walked with her head down, not looking to the stage. Why would she looked on the stage, she knew Ms. Park will there to hand her diploma. What a graduation day,,,
“Congratulation, Kang Jihyo-sshi,” said Lee Soo Man, the headmaster of SM High School. He shook Jihyo’s hand. Jihyo bowed to the headmaster. She walked towards the teachers, received congratulatory message from them. She bowed again and arrived at the end of stage, still with her head down.
“I’m so proud of you, Jihyo-ah.”
Jihyo startled. It was man’s voice. Slowly, she lifted her head. She saw a man in a suit and tie, looked feminine, but handsome. The man smiled to Jihyo while handed the diploma to Jihyo, who received with confuse look. The man took Jihyo’s hand and led her to walked down the stage. Then Jihyo snapped to reality.
“Uncle Kim?” she called. The man only smiled and let go Jihyo hand. She sat in shock and turned around. Her gaze followed the man. That mysterious man took a seat beside Ms. Park, who smiled brightly. Jihyo closed her mouth. It was Uncle Kim!
Jihyo couldn’t concentrate to the whole procession. She felt excited. She couldn’t wait for the ceremony to end. When the headmaster finally closed the ceremony, Jihyo dashed from her chair, bumped several people (and apologized frequently) just to make sure Uncle Kim finally came. Then she saw Ms. Park still talking with that man earlier. Jihyo stopped just few meters from them.
Ms. Park noticed Jihyo stood not far from them. “Jihyo-ah, why you still standing there? Meet your Uncle Kim,” said Ms. Park. Jihyo then looked at the man. The man only smiled and walked towards Jihyo. “Let me introduce myself. I’m Uncle Kim. Kim Heechul and I’m so proud of you,” said the man, whose name was Kim Heechul.
Jihyo couldn’t hold herself. She hugged Heechul tightly and started to cry. Heechul hugged her back and stroke her head. “Silly girl. You should be happy since this is your graduation day,” said Heechul. Jihyo released her hug, still cried. “This is not a dream, right? You really are Uncle Kim?” asked Jihyo between her tears. Heechul just nodded.
Ms. Park approached them. “Heechul-sshi, I have to go now. Jihyo can stay with you for two weeks, as you requested,” said Ms. Park. Heechul bowed to her. “Thank you for your help. Send my regards to Mrs. Jung and everybody in the orphanage,” said Heechul. Jihyo hugged Ms. Park tightly. “Thank you so much Ms. Park,” she whispered. Ms. Park hugged her back and released her. She bowed once again and left them.
“I can stay with you, Uncle Kim?” said Jihyo. Heechul nodded. “Ms. Park already packed your clothes. We can buy more later on,” said Heechul. Jihyo couldn’t hide her excitement. She hugged Heechul once again.
“Heechul-ah,” soft voice with heavy accent called Heechul. Heechul released the hug and saw a tall man holding a bouquet of pink roses. Jihyo looked at the man also. Heechul hugged that man. “It’s been awhile, Hankyung. Glad you can made it,” said Heechul. The man called Hankyung hugged him back and then released the hug. Hankyung handed the bouquet to Jihyo, who accepted it with confuse look.
“Jihyo-ah, this is my friend Hankyung, or Han Geng in Chinese. He’s your other uncle, and my best friend ever,” said Heechul, patted Hankyung’s shoulder. Hankyung smiled. “Congratulations, Jihyo-ah. Heechul always told me about your achievements. I’m so proud of you,” said Hankyung. Jihyo smiled and hugged Hankyung.

Jihyo felt like she was dreaming. She didn’t have one, but two uncles. Uncle Kim and Uncle Han. Now three of them were in the car to go to a restaurant. After 30 minutes, they arrived at their destination. A doorman opened Jihyo’s door and helped her to got out. Still holding her bouquet, she looked at the restaurant’s name. “Wow, this place is expensive,” she thought.
Hankyung patted her back and Heechul offered his arm. Jihyo linked her arm to Heechul and together with Hankyung, the three of them entered the restaurant. The manager welcomed them and escorted them to second floor. The manager opened the door and the trio entered it. Jihyo couldn’t hid her surprise.
The rooms filled with people she never met and they all welcomed her with warmth. The room was decorated in purple, her favorite color. There’s a ribbon with “Happy Graduation, Kang Jihyo!” written on it, hung near the window. Heechul and Hankyung introduced her to all the guests. Jihyo tried to remember their names. There were Park Jungsu, Kim Youngwoon, Kim Jongwoon, Shin Donghee, Lee Sungmin, Lee Donghae, Lee Hyukjae, Kim Ryeowook, Kim Kibum, Cho Kyuhyun. Also 2 foreigners, same like Hankyung, named Zhou Mi and Henry. Some of them came with their wives and kids.
The celebration started. Foods started to came and they ate with joy. Heechul also prepared small movie to show how he always care for Jihyo. Watching the movie, Jihyo couldn’t hold her tears. Hankyung, who sat beside her, offered his handkerchief to wipe her tears. Jihyo accepted it and wiped her tears. When the movie ended, Heechul rose from his seat. Everybody now paid attention to Heechul.
“Today is my happiest day. I invited you all to celebrate this happy day with me. Today is Kang Jihyo’s graduation day. As you know, she is my daughter. For almost 17 years, I looked her over from far. I owe an explanation to Jihyo about that,” said Heechul. He looked to Jihyo, who listened with full attention.
“All of us here once worked in entertainment industry. We’re idol group,” said Heechul. Jihyo’s eyes widened. She looked at Hankyung, who nodded. Then she looked at everyone in the room. They all smiled acknowledged Heechul’s statement. Heechul continued. “Once we have a schedule to celebrate Doljanchi with orphan kids, and we came to your place. That’s how we met.”
Jihyo took a deep breath, tried to absorbed the information. “By the end of our visit, we have a chance to meet babies. Hold them, feed them, hug them. Jungsu-hyung hold one baby, and so Hyukjae and Sungmin. When I hold one baby, I looked at the baby’s face and I cried so hard,” said Heechul. Jihyo bit her lip, tried to prevent the tears.
“Once I came home, I couldn’t stop thinking about that baby. So I asked Hankyung here what should I do back then. We discussed several options. The we agreed to becsme sponsor for one baby. That baby, once I hold very dearly and cried for her bad luck, is you,” said Heechul. Jihyo finally cried. She closed her face. Hankyung put his arms around Jihyo’s shoulder and held her.
Heechul’s voice started to shake. “Since that day, me and Hankyung support her. Even when Hankyung had to go back to China, he still sending gifts for you. I also sent all your achievements to him in China. We meet every year to celebrate your birthday. Hope that one day we can meet face to face,” said Heechul, tears already rolled down his face. Jihyo stood and hugged Heechul tightly. All people, who watched the scene, felt touched. Some of them wiped their tears. Then they clapped their hands. Jihyo then hugged Hankyung.
Jihyo walked to middle of room, bowed to everyone there. Then she faced Heechul and Hankyung. She bended her knees, put her hands on top of her forehead and bowed to Heechul and Hankyung. She still on bended knees and cried. “I’ve waited for this day to come. Everyday, I pray to God that I could meet Uncle Kim. Today, He answered my pray. He gives me not only one, but two uncles. It’s beyond my wildest imagination,” said Jihyo, choked with her tears.
“I don’t know what I did to receive this blessing. Thank you so much, Uncle Kim and Uncle Han. How could I ever repay you?” she bowed again. This time Heechul dashed to Jihyo, stood her up and hugged her tightly. Hankyung also hugged both of them. Jihyo cried so hard, cry of happiness.

Seoul, 2008
Super Junior just came back from their schedule. They attended a celebration party in an orphanage for babies who turned 1 year old. Leeteuk, Sungmin and Eunhyuk told other members about their visit. Only Heechul stayed quiet and sat at the dining table, watched all his member in living room. Quietly he stood up and entered his room. His action caught Hankyung’s eyes.
Hankyung followed Heechul to his room. He opened the door and found Heechul lay on his bed with his eyes closed. Hankyung sat on a chair across the bed. He watched Heechul in silence. Heechul just sighed, then he sat on his bed. He looked at Hankyung. “How come mean people exist in this world?” he started with anger tone. Hankyung just listened to him.
“You know, Hankyung? At least there are 100 kids there! They have to pay to what their parents did. They know nothing!” Heechul ended with a fist to the wall. Not hard enough, but Hankyung knew that it hurts. Heechul ignored the pain and stood up, paced back and forth in front of Hankyung. “I felt helpless there. All I could do just,,, hugged them. Babies with only 2 months old. They should be at their mother’s cradle, not stranger,” Heechul leaned on the wall.
Hankyung stood up. “Come on. I’ll buy you a drink,” Hankyung said, grabbed his jacket and walked outside the room. Heechul grabbed his jacket and followed Hankyung. Soon, they already on their way to nearest restaurant. Once they arrived, they ordered snacks and beers.
Their order arrived and for a moment they busy with their food. “Regarding your words earlier, do you have plan in your mind?” said Hankyung while drink his beer. Heechul shrugged. “That’s the point, Hannie. I felt powerless. I have nothing in my mind right now,” said Heechul. Hankyung nodded. “What if I gave you some ideas, Hyung?” said Hankyung. Heechul looked interested.
Hankyung and Heechul discussed several options. After almost an hour discussion, they found a solution and both of them walked home with smile on their face.
