Summary: Korean popstar Kim Heechul and Japanese rockstar Hyde share a brief moment backstage of an international music event.
A Moment Caught In Glass
There wasn't much in terms of interaction. They both were aware of each other's existence but had never given much thought to what would happen if they ever actually met. It had seemed impossible, entirely outside the realm of things that even people like them could dream of.
What they had was a moment and nothing more. They passed each other in the hallways backstage while the crowds roared and cheered for some music act currently occupying the stage. At first they didn't even notice each other. It took some time for them to realize what had just happened, and when they did look over their respective shoulders their eyes met only briefly before the connection was torn again; people getting in the way, doors shutting. Both knew they needed more than just this, needed to make a lasting memory during this once in a lifetime chance.
Still they didn't see each other again until those surreal hours when the afterparty was already slowly dissolving into thin air and people weren't sure if they were quite drunk enough or in fact too drunk to go home. They saw each other across the room, and then again in a dimly lit corridor somewhere so deep in the building they probably would have trouble finding their way back again. At that point it didn't matter.
Language should have been an issue, but it wasn't. They shook hands, the shorter of them blushing at the contact. Long, impossibly arousing fingers wrapped around the calloused hand of a guitar player, both of them warm and tender.
Their lips met.
In reality, the moment only lasted a few heartbeats. To them it felt much longer. It was the kind of sensation one could lose themselves in, a mindless tumble into the world of instincts and desires and lack of consequence. They did not touch any more than that; clasping hands and searching lips. They tested the waters with each other, varying pressure and pace until they found the right way to click with each other, the way that sent small thrills all through their bodies.
Later they would not really know quite what had possessed them. Their desire to meet each other had only ever been purely professional. And still when it finally happened they shared a moment so magical and surreal it might as well have been a dream. Only it wasn't. Whatever this possibly was, it was something that belonged to the two of them entirely. They would likely never see each other after this, and they would never ponder 'what if's' or 'maybe's'. This simply happened, like the waves lapping at the shore, like the sun rising each morning, like life needing air to breath. This was something natural, something that had to happen, something they needed.
When they pulled apart from the kiss they looked at each other for a long time. Words were not needed. They both just knew. Maybe it had just been a tiny little moment, fleeting and surreal and strange. Intimate and yet so very distant. But it had been their moment. Shared freely with just as much taking and there had been giving. No questions and no regrets, something to be treasured for being so delicate and special and altogether perfect. Their moment. Tiny in comparison, but oh so great in value to both of them. As the moment came for them to part, they were utterly content to do so. Both were aware they would never kiss again, thus allowing their moment to remain perfect and unspoiled by a reality neither was ever quite willing to face heads on.
They parted without a word spoken between them; tingling lips, smiles and a warm, fuzzy feeling the only things they took away from their moment to remember it by forever.
