today i read a whole book. the first whole book i've read since i graduated college 2 years ago. granted, it was only roald dahl's charlie and the chocolate factory, but still, that's impressive. i don't even read magazine articles. and i have a b.a. in english. go figure. thanks to john paul for including me in his literacy outreach plan.
also today, as john paul and i were reading in the park, we were victims of a hate crime. no - we were not fagbashed. instead, we were mocked because we were reading. yes, that is correct - a crew of teenage african americans mocked us because we were reading books.
IT'S NOT JUST AN AMUSING ANECDOTE - it's a social commentary, folks.
of course, when the kid asked what i was reading, i said war & peace. omg i'm a pseudo intellectual poseur.
(p.s. ben will be out of town for about two weeks next tuesday. HOUSE PARTY, kid-n-play style. boo-yah!)
