The Forbidden Fortress: Last Princess panel and screening were interesting. The movie was okay. I enjoyed it but it's pretty much like a lot of other "poor-man-saves-princess" films. The panel was frustrating because no one asked any good questions and no one actually answered any of the questions. It didn't help that the translators were crap.

But MatsuJun... &hearts

He was sooo cute haha (and confused most of the time since his translator sucked). I do find him cute but really, he's just another human being. Annoying fangirls were annoying. They were completely hanging on to every word he said and just killed a lot of things for me. And omg, his pants were SO TIGHT lol. xD

So in Anime Club, we finished off both Denno Coil and Gurren Lagann last week. I want to say that I loved Denno Coil. I really do. But I honestly think that the series got lost towards the end. This is one of the series where the world that the characters live in is so engrossing and creative that you just expect and wish for a great story. But the characters themselves, I think, were not well-written enough to complement their world. Yasako is such a dull and vague protagonist. And towards the end, more interesting people like Fumie and Daichi were completely pushed out of the plot and given no development. Actually, everyone that is considered the main characters in the show get very little development. In the end, the central plot was interesting regarding Yasako and her "shadow cyber self", but I think the more interesting and more pressing plot should have been about the imaginary world of the glasses and about caring for things that weren't real. The scene with Yasako and her mother in which Yasako's mother asks her to not use glasses anymore was such a good scene to me. However, the negate the whole thing by just having Yasako go look for Isako with no emotional transition in between. For the most part, Denno Coil was really good but at the end, I think there was a better path for the plot to take and much more interesting issues to explore.

As for Gurren Lagann, I still don't see why so many people love this show. I seem to have ended up liking all the characters that no one else cares much about (Viral, Rossiu, Yoko) and caring very little for Simon, the protagonist. Also, I still don't like Nia. Overall, it's not bad and I enjoyed it, but the character development and pacing were flawed. Simon develops in short bursts of change which cheapen what would otherwise be an inspiring metamorphosis. He is pretty much static in the whole Chouginga Gurren Lagann arc, the most epic part of the series. Viral and Rossiu didn't have that much screentime so when they were onscreen, they had dynamic moments and it didn't feel like they had uneven development. For the pacing, the time skip really should have occurred earlier. The Chouginga arc was only 6 episodes. No wonder Simon didn't change at all. They were too busy making it epic and killing off minor characters. Boota's human form was pretty unnecessary and a lame deus ex machina. Anyway, Gurren Lagann suffered from perhaps faulty planning but wasn't too bad in the end.

Ah Black Lagoon. It was good. Really good. But the ending just leaves me confused and not sure what I was expecting from the series in the first place. Stunning animation, nice music, and great pacing. Only two out of four main characters were developed but they were developed very well. I wish that Dutch and Benny could have developed more, but they were barely there in the last arc so that wasn't possible. I think that Rock actually ended up being my favorite character. I like him the most when he's with Revy though. They have the most interesting and dynamic relationship I've seen in anime for a while. I liked the first arc better than the second but the second one has its own charm. I guess in the end, I was hoping for a more overarching plot, like Cowboy Bebop had (because I really was comparing this to Cowboy Bebop in the first arc; that's how much I liked it and how good I thought it was), but they opted for no overall plot and just with episodes. In that sense, the series completed that goal quite well. So I did like this show, but I would have liked a plotline that connected all the arcs together.

MANGA/ANIME/GAME -meme
- talk about the title
- add one title

* Naruto
I love this series, in spite of the Narutards. Manga > anime but I do watch the anime for the prettily animated fights. :D I think I'm like one of ten people in the world who actually like Sakura and one of twenty that like Ino. Also, Sai is so much &hearts .

* D.Gray-man
Kanda = win. Also there needs to be more Kanda. The moments of friendship, camaraderie, and family in this series are well-done. This is pretty much the only shounen anime I follow so closely. It's actually really nice and I love the little shorts at the end! Also, this series needs more Kanda...

* Prince of Tennis
I was really into this in high school, haha. Good for a sports series and very lol-worthy. xD

* BLEACH
Oh I was into this waaaaaaay before the anime came out and the Bleachtards came in. Despite my all-consuming hate for Ichigo, Byakuya is amazing and Orihime is quickly growing on me. However, there are WAY TOO MANY FREAKIN' CHARACTERS RIGHT NOW. Although Grimmjow is super sexy and the Vaizards need more love

* One Piece
I'd so love to be up-to-date on this series because it's amazing (I just finished Alabasta arc lol). Sanji's my favorite but I love everyone pretty much.

* Mobile Suit Gundam
Meh I have a very biased vendetta against anything Gundam that I will stubbornly refuse to explain.

* Final Fantasy
The games are mediocre in my opinion. The Spirits Within was actually a pretty good movie, at least better than Advent Children plot-wise.

* Neon Genesis Evangelion
I totally saw this way too early in my anime career. I need to re-watch it. But I did like it when I saw it. Asuka's my favorite.

* Dragon Quest
I know it's designed by Toriyama...?

* Black Cat
Pretty good manga. Anime adaptation wasn't too bad. I never finished either though.

* Gakuen Heaven
BL's not really my thing.

* Dragon Ball
The art doesn't appeal to me at all, so I've never seen it.

* Hunter x Hunter
Kurapica! &hearts I became such a Kaida Yuki fangirl after seeing this. xD I loved the arc about Kurapica SO MUCH.

* Gintama
Very cute from what I've seen. I wanna see more. D:

* Death Note
I avoid this like the plague. Partly because of fandom but just 'cause I've read some chapters and watched some episodes and it just doesn't really appeal to me.

* Majin Tantei Nogami Neuro
I might pick this up. I read the manga a long time ago and was mildly interested. However, none of the mysteries are really mysteries lol.

* Shoujo Kakumei Utena
Another landmark anime that I need to view sometime in the future. Episode 1 was pretty cool.

* Jigoku Shoujo (Hell Girl)
I'm not sure if I'll see this one. Seems a bit preachy.

* Eureka 7
I haven't finished this yet but Dominic and Anemone are all kinds of love. Suffers slightly from pacing problems.

* Meitantei Conan
If I had a couple of weeks of free time, I would totally marathon this show.

* GANTZ
This show piques my interest. Might watch sometime.

* Rozen Maiden
I liked this! It's quite good. I wanna see Traumerei sometime soon.

* BLOOD+
I liked this a lot. Very good overall, especially in characterization. Haji is so awesome. :)

* Sailor Moon
I seriously plan on re-watching this from episode 1. Cartoon Network did not count. My favorite has always been Sailor Moon.

* Howl's Moving Castle
Good movie until near the end where something unexplainable happens and suddenly everything is all right. I prefer the book.

* Katekyo Hitman REBORN!
Read one volume. I don't really have the patience to read up to when it supposedly gets good. >_> Also, I don't really like any of the characters except for Yamamoto.

* Ouran High School Host Club
The adaptation by BONES was so good~ I would read the manga and I might but the mangaka has confusing page layouts.

* Nodame Cantabile
Both the drama and anime have special places in my heart. The Paris Special was amazing.

* Kingdom Hearts
I'm a Nintendohead so I never intend to touch Kingdom Hearts. :p

* Persona
Probably won't play this.

* Lucky Star
Pretty entertaining.

* Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei
They need to keep a better general quality of the jokes. Mostly an awesome show though.

* Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
Not bad. See above commentary for details. Favorite characters are Viral, Rossiu, and Yoko. I also like Gimmy and Darry.

* Gravitation
Another landmark one I need to see. But probably won't. >.>;

* LOVELESS
Um no thanks.

* Ah! My Goddess!
I like the movie a lot. It's one of the very few English dubs I like. I have the OVAs on my computer but haven't seen them yet. :x

* Tokyo Majin Gakuen Kenpuchou
I've seen about 5 episodes of this. Really generic but can be entertaining. Dude in a hoodie is hawt.

* Samurai 7
Ah I must finish this show.

* Samurai Champloo
Ah I feel so sad to say that I need to finish this. D:

* Peacemaker Kurogane
Really interesting characters. Beautiful manga. Terrible pacing in the anime.

* Air Gear
I feel like I'm probably never going to see this.

* Mononoke
I hope it's better than Ayakashi Ayashi.

* DOGS
Quite good but needs to flesh out plot more.

* Code Geass
Really good and thought-provoking. Also is full of lulz. xD Suzaku is hot.

* Ookiku Furikabutte
The manga's pretty cool. I might check the anime out.

* Fullmetal Alchemist
Anime was a masterpiece. I actually liked the ending a lot and the movie.

* Fullmetal Panic!
I'm sure if I watched this while I was awake, I would've liked it more. Fumoffu was great.

* Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu
Beautiful animation! A very enjoyable show. This made me a Hirano Aya fan. :)

* Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo
Such a great movie! Everyone should see this. The 70's live-action version? Not so much. :p

* Kaze no Stigma
Omg this show is so bad. xD;

* DOLLS
I actually don't like this very much. It's so generic.

* Azumanga Daioh
Aw this show makes me smile.

* Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto
Really good but the plot kinda petered out in the end. Akizuki/Kakunojo and British people were win though. Occasional nice animation. I liked the artsy angle the series takes.

* Black Blood Brothers
Um not that great. But the ending song is nice!

* Chobits
I really only liked it at the end. Yuzuki and Minoru were awesome characters.

* Chrno Crusade
I liked it. I hated Chrno's outfit though. It was so ugly. D:

* Darker than Black
Um. I tried it for 5 episodes. What happened here, BONES? D:

* Digimon
Oh oh &hearts my love for this show is tremendous. TAICHI AND SORA ARE SO MEANT TO BEEEE.

* Pokémon
I can never take this show seriously. But I do love the soundtrack!

* DN Angel
A cute show. I couldn't bring myself to finish it though.

* Elfen Lied
Sounds really interesting.

* Eyeshield 21
SO MUCH WIN. Besides D.gray-man, this is the only other shounen series that I actively keep on track with for the manga. Hiruma is all sorts of sexy. I actually liked the anime okay because Hirano Aya made a great Mamori.

* Fruits Basket
Yuki Sohma was my first very serious bishounen crush. xD Kyou/Tohru makes me gag though.

* Ginga Nagareboshi Gin
I think I've heard of it.

* Ginga Densetsu WEED
*shrug*

* Ghost Hunt
SO UNDERRATED. It's animated by J.C. Staff, come on! Very fun supernatural series. The last arc is FREAKIN' SCARY.

* Great Teacher Onizuka
While Sorimachi Takashi was a yummy Onizuka in the live-action, I got bored with it and never finished it. :/ Anime is quite good.

* .hack
Premise is dumb.

* InuYasha
Ah the early days of my anime career. I think I might pick this up again when it's over.

* Lovely Complex
Really cute and well-done shoujo series and manga. Also, the live-action makes me so happy!

* Mermaid Melody
Chara designs are ugly.

* NANA
Live-action movie 1 was nice. Nakashima Mika makes a cool rocker. Don't have time to get into the manga or anime!

* Papa to ♥ KISS IN THE DARK
This sounds... strange.

* Princess Tutu
So cute! Fakir is amazing. Also Mythos sleeping without pants never fails to amuse me.

* Romeo x Juliet
I might finish this. Juliet is so plain though.

* Pretéar
Aww a cute shoujo series. I like it a lot. It has touching family issues.

* Suki na Mono wa Suki Dakara Shou ga nai!!
Um doesn't sound that appealing.

* Kyo Kara Maoh!
Not my cup of tea.

* Tokyo Mew Mew
I might check this out. It looks cute and promising.

* Kirepapa
*shrug*

* Togainu no Chi
*shrug*

* Lamento

* Junjou Romantica
I think I've heard of it.

* Amatsuki
Nope.

* BLASSREITER
There're robots and I heard it's pretty good.

* Crystal Blaze
Sounds... gay. D: Or generic.

* Druaga no Tou ~the Aegis of URUK~

Not the smut mangaka right?

* Macross FRONTIER
I plan on seeing this.

* Monochrome Factor
Sounds interesting.

* Wagaya no Oinarisama
Sounds like it's gonna suck.

J.C. Staff yes! Do more action anime please.

* Monster
Awesome psychological suspense show! A very gripping plot.

added: * Kekkaishi (if you haven't seen/read this, I suggest you check it out! :D)
