Not much going on lately. Things are still pretty slow.
Let's see...I ran into Heather last Thursday on campus. It was...a surprise to see her again. It had been maybe 5 - 6 months since when I had last seen her.
Aside from that, I've got an essay due next week in Philosophy 101. Its not a free-topic writing assignment, so I won't have too much trouble deciding on what to write about.
I can write a paper on belief in a god or gods. Basically, that means taking a stance as a theist, an atheist, or an agnostic and making my arguement. The theist POV requires that I address the "Problem of Evil" and give a defense against it. The atheist POV requires that I explain the argument by design and show how it fails. And the agnostic POV requires that I give a reply to Pascal's wager.
If I don't want to write about that, I can take one of three positions on the question of free will and determinism: Hard Determinism, Compatibilism, or Libertarianism. I can either argue for the truth of determinism of the will and discuss the justification for praising or blaming, rewarding or punishing individuals for what they do by choice; or I can argue against the claim that a person is not responsible for a choice which is undetermined since it is not made by the person but merely in that person by a random event.
So, I guess it'll keep me fairly busy.
