Ookawa Genki and the amazing hips pt 2~

Aug 20, 2007 22:57

I've finally calmed down a bit with my fangirling since coming home from Tokyo, so I figured I'd write about my impressions from the myu a bit more coherently now (don't expect too much though, Genki is still Genki, and I'm only human... ^_^;;)

I went to see the show on both shows Aug 11th and on the morning show on the Aug 12.

I've said before that I loved this myu, but the more time I've had to think about it the more I realize that it really was one of the best ones so far. But I'm probably really biased ^_^;; The boys were just so perfect and I really loved the music (except for the Aiba solo in which he did that strange little pirouette thing by the net. It just looked weird! and the song was boring). I loved how the Golden Pair never stopped interacting with each other, always touching or at least looking at each other. Seto was so hyper through the whole myu; I really think he's the best Eiji so far. I loved Nagayan, but Seto is younger and the character comes more natural for him I think. And since Eiji is pretty much my favorite character, it felt good to be able to se a myu where he was portrayed in such a good way.

Ono Kento was just a really big surprise. I didn't think the Inui vs Yanagi match would be very interesting, because neither Masei nor Kento caught my attention before, but they were both really good. Especially Kento. He may not be the best singer or dancer, but he is absolutely perfect as Yanagi. So intense! They had great chemistry as well, the only thing missing was some jealousy from Kaido ^_~ (which never came) The song Kento and Masei sang was beautiful, and the match was interesting to watch, but the little live action movie with Yanagi and Inui as kids, when their partnership broke up was a bit... I don't want to call it ridiculous, but let's just say I had a hard time trying not to laugh. Especially when they ran XD you'll know what I mean when you see it I think Kachiro and Katsuo's actors played the chibis, but they never showed their faces. It was kind of like a filmed version of the Golden Pair flashback in Rikkaimyu 1st service, though that one was much cuter. Anyway, during the match they showed data on the screen behind them, which was kind of fun. Kento as snarky Yanagi was really fun to watch. All his "...is what you were going to say, right?" was just spot on. He deserves more attention! It was during this match that Yukimura was being rolled over stage in a hospital bed holding up a tennis racket XD On his way to surgery, which should be a prett y serious thing, but it was kind of nice that they made that light and fun. They dealt with the more serious aspect of his illness later.

The Fuji/Kirihara game was, obviously, my favorite part of the whole myu. It was quite long as well, which can never be a bad thing when it comes to Genki *___* Right before their match was about to start, they did the thing where Yanagi asks to be hit by Sanada but Kirihara jumps in and stops Sanada's hand with his racket. Aww! He's a sweet boy, really ^_~ Unfortunately (or perhaps not) all the talk leading up to that moment is completely blurry for me cause Genki was using that time to strip off his jacket and warming up. Mmm... Genki-legs...

Anyway, Genki had a solo song (yay!) which is probably called "Hey Genius!/Bloodshot" and I pretty much lost all ability to think clearly around that time... eep! the hip-thingy! Catchy song, though, I do remember that. During the "Bloodshot" part of the song, Rikkai ganged up to do some back up. Sanada was standing on a bench XD <-- dont know why I thought that was funny, but it looked a bit strange. Not that I spent much time watching Sanada, but still... Match went on, and then Fuji and Kirihara were alone on the stage, and Kirihara went all crazy and made Fuji blind (ohnoes!) and Aiba was supposed to show this by holding one hand in front of his eyes, which also looked a bit strange. Aaaanyway, I liked the little flashback thing they did here to when Yukimura got ill. One after another the Rikkai team came running onto the stage, dressed in winter school uniforms, which looked really good, where Yukimura was lying on a hospital bed. And then they sang a song which kind of faded into "Hijou no Tennis" from 1st service. This number gave me goosebumps, it was so good! All Rikkaidai's numbers were actually great, from their summary song in the beginning to Sanada's wild war dance XD Then after the break, they did the flashback scene to when Kirihara was new at Rikkaidai and met Yanagi, Sanada and Yukimura for the first time. Genki was sooooo good in this scene! All desperate and screaming on the floor (<-- sounds great, doesn't it? ^_^;;) The Sannin were standing on a platform and Genki was standing before them and, again, a really impressive scene. Can't wait to see this again. So the match continued, and both Fuji and Kirihara refused to give up, so obviously they sang a song about it, which was quite good. Kirihara went all Muga no Kyouchi but still didn't manage to win, so when they went to shake hands after the match, Kirihara fainted in Fuji's arms. Marui and Jackal came and carried him to the sidelines, where they then continued to pet his hair (kind of ^^) and tried to wake him up. For the rest of the Sanada vs Echizen match he sat and sobbed. Poor thing, he looked so miserable!

That was a bit more detailed than I'd planned it... moving on. The best part of the Sanada vs Echizen match was Sanada's song about "Fuurinkazan". I loved this song! eep! hip-thingy nr 2!! Rikkai-team were backup dancers again, and it was kind of interesting to watch this number because of the differences in how they dance. I'm not saying they're bad dancers, but Masa is just really a lot better than the rest. Kind of like, if you wanna see how the dance was supposed to look, then keep your eyes glued on Masa. He's the best dancer in the team, probably the best of the whole cast right now, and it really showed. And the song is stuck in my head. As is the duet Sanada sang with Yukimura. I think Ouji has been training on his singing a lot since the last myu, cause his was sounded a lot better now. It was a beautiful song, I think I like it better than "Mou mayoi wa nai", which I liked alot (except fro Ouji's voice T_T).

Doori, as always, was fantastic as Echizen. He really has the right attitude, and though their match wasn't as spectacular as I'd have hoped for, it was still good. They sang a samurai song ^____^. And, the best part of the match, Tezuka and Echizen sang "Omae wa Seigaku no hashira ni nare"!! I love this song, and they had updated it a bit, so it would fit in with the rest of the songs.

After all the Seiagku vs Rikkaidai matches were over it was time for Rokkaku vs Higa. It was so strange when Higa came onto the stage, because I had completely forgotten they were supposed to be in this myu. They were great though! Kentarou was warming up for his match, the stage was completely dark except for a single spotlight on Kentarou. Then some ominous music came on, Kentarou froze and you could see Chinen walking behind Kentarou, but when he turned around to look, Chinen was already gone. This happened a couple of times, and after the last time, Kentarou sniffed the air and said "Gouya?" XD That was hilarious, but poor Kentarou! So, he Higa chuu boys were great. Their little song/match with Rokkaku really set the tone for the upcoming match, and it just felt like a little sneak peak on what's to come. I hope they keep that up for future myus, but probably not. I wonder what they were doing backstage though, if they had to wait two hours while the musical was on and just kind of.... sit. Perhaps they kept Ouji and Keisuke company (wanna see backstage clip nooooow!) The Higa boys were great fun during the .... applause (or whateverit'd called) as well, they refused to bow with the rest of the guys and just kind of... bowed their heads a bit XD The girls sitting in front of me during the third show almost died with laughter at that time (I was busy Genki-watching). I wish I had more to say about Rokkaku but the truth is they didn't do much in this myu. They had a few talks between the matches and such, and of course all the group songs and their match with Higa, but other than that... they hardly got to stand on the sidelines during the matches, even. I got Davide/IRE for all my shows and I even got one of his jokes! *proud* ("Okinawa... OOKInawa" <-- funny, no?)

There was a lot of cute things happening in the background during the matches. Like when Masa took Genki's place and Genki had to crawl behind him. I don't think that was planned though, cause it only happened during one show, and though Masa kept a poker face, Genki had a hard time keeping from laughing (which of course made the audience laugh).

All in all, I loved the whole thing ^________________^

.... and now I'm too tired to write anymore. Which is good, cause this is too long already. Didn't mean to repeat what everyone else has already said about this musical (there's a few really good, detailed reports written afterall) but I had to get this out of me. I can't wait to see this thing again on DVD, or just hearing the songs again (Fuurinkazan FTW!) but I read they won't be released until November 14 T_T Luckily, Inui's song, Rikkai's summary song, Kirihara's song, Sanada and Yukimura's song and Fuurinkazan are still etched in my memory, I don't think they'll disappear anytime soon.

Just a little side note, I had a dream last night where I went to watch tenimyu and Genki was sitting next to me watching it. And then I saw him kind of floating away.... yes, well, my first dream with Genki and I have absolutely no idea what it means. He was awfully pretty though, so I woke up happy. Guess that counts for something...
