Since Severus was dumped in the city all freshly killed (what sort of afterlife is this? :|) he's actually done fairly well with talking to others. And making some very unlikely friends, like the alien Karolina Dean. Who happens to be the only one NOT from his world that knows of his entire story. He considers her a friend, as well as the Sanctuary's head, Dr Helen Magnus. They share a love of tea and joke around with using Latin since no one else can read it. He also has others he considers friends to certain degrees. Look at him, actually social.
He also opened a shop, Asphodel, in the market district to make some profit off of his skills. And because living in the freebie apartment was just to cramped after seventeen years with some pretty posh living quarters at Hogwarts. Of course he shares that above-shop flat with a fuzzball of a tabby kitten named Minerva (because she just takes up so much space yes).
He's also on speaking terms with one Lily Potter and the two of them are slowly repairing their friendship.
