So, I made it to Egypt alive. Right now I'm sitting in a little coffee shop near the University that has AC and free wireless. I think I'm going to be spending a lot of my time here. The guys living in the apartment with me both seem cool, and fairly easy to live with. The apartment is great. Everything in it is a little old, but it's seven rooms which is way more room than the three of us need. It's got a little balcony looking over the street, and we even figured out hot to get the AC working. The AC is key because it is hot here. Really hot. It was 105 yesterday, it's 105 again today and doesn't show any signs of cooling off any time soon.
Orientation started today, and as part of that I took the arabic placement exam. It was painful. Apparently during the year since my last arabic course I've forgotten just about everything I learned. I think I'm basically going to re-take all the arabic I've taken which is probably a good thing, since I never was that confident in my arabic even while I was taking it.
Once I get my course schedule finalized (tomorrow or the next day) I'm going to try to figure out what's happening with my internship. I think Refugee Egypt is still the most likely option, but there are a few other options that I'm looking at.
More later. I'm glad I'm not home to see the Sox fall apart.
