Money to burn
I was reading a short article on how Wii is again one of the top gifts this Christmas which quoted that the average price for the console in Ebay was around $100 over retail. I decided to do a quick check to see if that was right...
Holy Crap.
There are some stupid people out there who are willing to blow in excess of $600 to buy a new Wii with Play. So what you can get for about $319.98 plus taxes ($269.99 + $49.99) at stores (when they are in stock - and Play is almost never out of stock anymore) is going for almost double. Oh, plus $99 shipping to Canada...like that isn't a bit excessive :p
So, seeing a listing for this much I figure, oh well, no one is stupid enough to pay that much - wrong again. I just checked back. The system sold for $660 US. I'd sell my Wii for that much. I still have the freakin box, just let me pack it up!
I think the best part about the advertising on Ebay is how deceptive it is though.
They are listing the item as Wii with 14 games and 4 controllers. At first I was like, "wow, 14 games". Then I checked and they are counting Wii Sports as 5 games and Play as 9. Hello, 1 disc = 1 game in my book idiots. Well at least it comes with 4 controllers...wait..not so fast. It comes with the standard included Wii remote and nunchuck, plus Play which includes an additional Wii remote, and an extra nunchuck. So 2 Wii remotes + 2 nunchucks = 4 controllers? I don't know that anyone would seriously consider the nunchuck a controller on its own, its more of a controller expansion since you can't play anything without connecting it to the Wii remote. Scary part is this isn't the only one listed like this - tons of the listings are just as deceptive.
Oh well, I idiot who paid $660 for this load of crap Ebay item must have money to burn, or just absolutely zero commonsense.
