Ok, ok so its been.. well over a month! But hey, I have been busy. This is what I have been busy doing.
Well I went to Prague with the choir. Had a truly fantastic time, the people are friendly and beer is so cheep it was “beer o’clock” every hour or so, however the Pilsner Urkle (local beer) just didn’t get us totally inebriated so apart from the old problem of finding toilets there was no problem finding out way home!
We sang in a church in the old square, and the rehearsal brought about 100 people in to listen to the concert which was a great start to the tour, after that we went to a couple of smaller towns before singing in the Monetary in Tepla. The place was superb and very iconic. As you would expect the acoustics were spot on. Not many in the audience but hey, we didn’t care!
So back from Prague and a week to go through job Interviews. I really wanted the job as it has status as well as good money, only problem is that its 120 miles from home sooo it means getting a flat if I get the job!
Anyway, the week goes bye and I go to York for the 9 day Singing \ Conducting summer school. As usual a great time was had by all, I was swanning ( or should I say running) between classrooms singing in for trainee conductors, lots of beer on the evening and water during the day (got to keep the voice in shape for the end of week concert). On the Thursday the advanced singers arrived. Lots of friends appear and I change into Advanced Top Tenor, oh but can I also sing with the AB and C conductors, oh and the singers as well as the D conductors (the reason the advances dingers are formed as they conduct massed choir and orchestra)
Well the week ends and I drive back south in a daze, completely knackered but very happy from being part of a successful course.
On the Monday I heard that I got the Job! Head of IT for an International Organisation.
Ok so now I need a flat. Sooo trip to West Sussex and found the perfect place, in the grounds of a country estate but unfurnished, so it’s a frantic zip round to get the bed, couch etc, to be in before the start date. Oh and the computer table. One of the most important things.
So I have now started my new job and going through a steep learning curve, but enjoying every minute of it. As I get into the swing of it I will start to be more high profile here again, although I cannot have IRC on my desktop.
Well that’s it for now.
