This is why I love Arashi...

I was reading this article translated to English by clovert . It's a magazine article probably published in 2007 around the time of Kiiroi Namida's release (hence the theme "Tears").

You can read the article here at her blog.

Personally, reading this article I was so moved. This is why I love Arashi. They're so accepting and supportive of each other. They're such an odd mix of talents and personalities and yet, in any other group, they may not have found their true potential.

MatsuJun has such a cool persona and at first glance you'd peg him as being in a group like KAT-TUN. Yet he's an emotional guy with a unique sense of style and a heart for the fans.  Would he have felt comfortable showing those sides in any other group but Arashi?

Sho-kun is known as the "smart" one with his roles as MC and newscaster. And with his well-toned physique you'd think he'd be an ace at sports. He's certainly not someone you'd peg as being an idol or even "Johnny's boy". And yet he can't do flips, he's not so gifted at sports and spontaneity (he always thinks things through too much), and he loves to rap and show off his hip-hop side. He's the non-stereotypical Johnny's boy. Before Arashi he was considering dropping out. But because of him opportunities have opened for other Johnny's boys: Koki doing rap, Kame doing commentating for a sports show, Koyama doing some MC-ing gig, etc.

Ohno, the Leader, has the most non-TV friendly personality I have ever seen. *gets bricked by Ohno fans.* No-no, keep listening!! It gets better. LOL!
He doesn't speak on screen unless spoken to or it's about fishing. He calls EVERYTHING "umai" and angers the jimusho by going fishing for hours and getting all dark and tanned. And yet, Arashi stands by him, supports him and works in each episode to get him to talk and show the parts in him that they love. And, in turn, we have come to love him. In other groups he may have just ended up in the background but in Arashi he's just as much in front as the rest of them (even if he never speaks... :P )

Nino, the resident gamer, has the most cunning, fast-turning mind I have ever seen. His mind is constantly six steps ahead of the rest of us. He throws out amusing comments and remarks that make variety shows fun and can change personalities to fit an acting role in a matter of seconds. As pointed out on Jounetsu Tairiku (The Passionate Continent), he can be playing a video game and yet hear everything else the others are saying (including the director) and go out and dance a number PERFECTLY. I wouldn't be surprised if he's NEVER gotten an NG.

Aiba-chan, the resident "天然(tennen)", is the cutest of the bunch. It has taken me years to truly appreciate how awesome he really is. He is definitely the moodmaker of the group. If Aiba's around then happiness and smiles are sure to follow. He may not realize it when he fails - correction, he DEFINITELY  does not realize it - but it's those moments that make you love, loosen you up and make the show fun. He makes the banter fun. :)   But, in any other group, would Aiba have been as accepted? Or would he have lost his smile?

Because these 5 are together, they have become the people they are today. And that's why I love them.

In Aiba's words, 「嵐に出会えてよかった~」
