This was a reply I recieved expressing my offense at the upped and unnessecary sexualization of the female characters in Dynasty Warriors 6.

Here is a wonderful reply, and when I say wonderful I really me to say oh my god what the hell.

Eh, I can see how any girl player can feel offended. The sex appeal, as far as female chars go, has been really ( Read more... )

I bet most people who have never been exposed to outside cultures might not know what a bindi is. and technically is isn't a bindi because it's not indian. the chinese used beauty marks that could be placed on the cheeks and forehead and used a variety of different designs.

but this guy has a point. most video games are for guys who want to play guys and look at boobs. if the girls aren't terribly interesting, they aren't going to play them. there's nothing wrong with that. the games are made by guys for guys. if the target audience wants and will buy games with blood and boobs, what do you expect to be made?

to be honest, I'm more offended by you attacking this guy for bringing up some very valid points. and yes, it may be his opinion but still. if you want the industry to be less sexist, or whatever, start your own company, or something. or just don't buy the games and buy what you like. but attacking people for responding to your posts with something you might not agree with is terrible immature. just because they don't agree with you does not make them wrong.

i'm sorry if this offends you, because that is not my intention at all, but i think your comment is very narrow-minded.

the demographics for most video games aren't gender-based, they are AGE based, for people from adolescence to mid thirties, that's what THEIR marketers say. also, i know more female gamers than male ones, so i am in serious disbelief that it's all about boobs and blood. also, i know MANY female programmers/designers who make the games, so they aren't "made by guys for guys". if the girls aren't terribly interesting in the games, they should maybe put more effort in, it shouldn't just be dismissed as "oh whatever it's for guys anyway.." that, to me, is a prehistoric and offensive comment. the industry will only become less sexist when people voice their opinions that they find it sexist and disagree with how women, and even men is some circumstances, are being portrayed. simply starting one's own company won't do anything if people are still ingrained with these kinds of ideals and notions that it just doesn't matter or mean anything.

also, i don't think that tennoarashi is attacking anyone. he's stating his OPINION. he isn't saying buddy is wrong, the way i'm not saying you're wrong. no one's attacking anyone, we just have minds of our own and thus our own frames of mind. also, this is HIS journal. people can post whatever they want on their journal, immature or not, however, since he is just disagreeing with a viewpoint, not criticizing the person as a whole, i don't think it is immature at all. especially since it is obviously an issue that he is impassioned about...
