Musing for the Month of April
As we wrap up the month of April and move into May, I think it's time to look at some things that I learned or was reminded of this month.
Sometimes, I do take on too much work. You can please some of the people some of the time, but you can't please all people all the time. There will be students that will hate my guts (yes, they're crazy, but still...). Students will spend more energy trying to get out of work than just doing the work that has been assigned. Often, I feel like I'm working harder than my students (there are some exceptions...;-) ).
There will be students that get higher grades than they deserve. There will be students that get lower grades than they are capable. By the end of the semester, my patience is teetering on empty. My give a damn really IS busted. Relationships are a funny, funny thing; sometimes they end, and it's like nothing changed. I think I can get used to being in New York City on a permanent basis. I have a lot of friends that I can lean on, especially in times when I'm really down. I like the Jersey Shore. usmcbeardad is an awesome man, and I'm very lucky to have met him and have him in my life. I have some really, really great friends that live in Harrisburg that I wish I got to see more often. Porn is a beautiful thing. I have an unhealthy obsession with Joss Stone's new album, "Introducing Joss Stone". I really do not get enough sleep. I really should go to the gym more often; that way, I wouldn't be so tired and sore afterwards. The double chocolate chip frappachino (sp?) from Starbucks is one of the best things ever, even if it is ridiculously priced. South Park is funny to me again. I have a tendency to reach for a conclusion, even when someone is in mid-sentence. I have a ghetto booty. I am "adorable", as determined by someone in NYC. "Ice Age: The Meltdown" is a pretty funny movie. My brain works faster than my mouth sometimes. I sometimes have a tendency to be long winded.
