NOT SO BAD
Maria was smiling at her. The Russian blonde leaned in for a kiss and Nicole was quick to reciprocate. Their tongues danced inside each other’s mouth as the kiss deepened. The romantic movie playing was pushed back into the background. Both women were lost in their own spell of romance. Nicole cupped Maria’s cheek and Maria did the same. The two kissed for a few more moments until Nicole pulled away for air. She let out a soft, short chuckle.
“Mmm.. Maybe we should actually watch the movie,” she said.
That would be a first for them.
“Maybe,” Maria’s hand shot out and yanked Nicole back to her. The kissing resumed and Nicole didn’t mind at all.
Nicole pulled back and rested her forehead against Maria’s. “That was more like a maybe not.”
“Ok. Maybe not.” Maria said hurriedly and leaned in once again to kiss. Nicole held her steady though. Maria frowned at her.
“You want to watch the movie?” she asked.
Nicole just stared at her and smiled. “No, that’s not it. You kiss wonderfully actually.”
Maria’s cheeks tinged a shade of red. “Thank you?”
Nicole laughed and shook her head. “Never mind. Just come here.” She crooked a finger at her.
Maria smiled at her and pushed her back against the sofa. She skipped one leg over Nicole’s knees and straddled her. The kissing resumed once more.
They can always try to watch the movie another time.

Maria stood at the opposite of the net. Nicole never really liked these moments. She often wonders how someone could have that icy-dagger stare that Maria is giving her right now. It was especially puzzling since she now knew the woman off the court. Maria was sweet and she was a girl. Nicole stopped staring at her eyes and instead focused on the yellow ball that Maria was bouncing.
Nicole heard Maria’s loud grunt and quickly got into position to return serve. They traded ground strokes and Nicole gradually gained the upper hand. She pummeled a cross court forehand out of Maria’s reach to win the match.
Nicole pumped her fist in celebration and jogged to the net. Maria was already standing there, waiting. Maria extended her hand for a formal handshake but Nicole denied her. She put her hands on her shoulders and kissed both cheeks, trying to get as close to her lips as possible without betraying to the people their relationship. She hugged Maria for a moment longer than appropriate. Nicole let out a sigh when she felt Maria’s hand on her back.
“Good job Nicky,” Maria whispered to her ear.
The two shook hands with the umpire and then Maria left, having lost the match. Nicole smiled at her and went back to the center of the court blowing kisses into the crowd.
It wasn’t so bad after all for Nicole and later that day she got Maria to promise to sit on her box for her other matches. People will be wondering but Nicole doesn’t care.
